My husband is training for a big event and they mentioned to him recently about focusing on his breathing.
How many of us are shallow breathing, not taking in full breaths of air? To fill our lungs or let it go down deep into our bellies. How many of us are walking around with tightness in our chest, our shoulders raised?
I think about this a lot as a self-confessed shallow breather and somebody who seems to be always on the go. Taking time to just sit and breathe sometimes feels out of reach, but it’s really foundational to wellbeing, stress and our ability to regulate.
I hope you take some time on this Sunday to just stop and take some steady breaths and feel the rhythm of your inhale and exhale. I’m doing it too.
