It’s one thing to forgive someone. It’s an entirely different thing to pray for them.

If you are carrying a heavy load of resentment, pain, or grief today, this story is for you. Discover how a moment of radical obedience brought a miraculous release.

How can you move on when deep emotional pain takes over? Can you not only forgive the person who hurt you, but actually pray for them?
About six years ago, Tim and I were coming home from a church revival. We were praising God for the evening of grief healing that Tim had just received. I didn't know that, that very evening, my own healing was right around the corner.

Tim had received a miraculous touch of healing from the deep pain of losing his 19-year-old son to su***de. He had struggled with this pain for many months. While we were at the revival, a lead pastor prayed for Tim with such love and compassion. Then another pastor came over to pray for him as well. This pastor shared the grief that the Lord had healed him from—his daughter and granddaughter had been killed in a tragic car accident. He shared his testimony of how God healed his heart and enabled him to move on with life. The pastor explained how he had to forgive the driver who caused that tragic accident. He then helped Tim forgive himself for thinking there was something he could have done to prevent his son's tragedy. As Tim and the pastor wept together over their losses, the presence of Jesus touched them both, and a deep peace surrounded them.

When we arrived home, we walked toward our guest house, where we were living at the time, which required climbing a long flight of stairs. Tim led the way up. As I was walking up the steps, a profound presence of the Spirit of the Lord came over me. I could sense the Lord speaking to my heart: “Are you ready to fully forgive _____?”
I replied, "Yes, Lord, I have done that."
Then I heard the Lord say, “Bless and pray for this person.”
I stopped and cried. I thought, Why would I do that? That doesn’t make sense. Lord, you know what this person did to my life.
Tim stopped, looked down at me, and asked, “Why have you stopped, and why are you crying?”
I said, "The Spirit of the Lord is so evident right now. I hear His voice, and He is gently asking me to pray for and bless ______."
Tim kindly replied, “Then you better do it.”
I knelt right there on the stairs and said, “Jesus, I forgive, pray for, and bless this person, and I fully release them to you.” All of a sudden, a heavy load I had been carrying was lifted from my heart.

My challenge for you this week is to rise above the world’s standard of how to handle it when someone comes against you. Raise your standard to go beyond loving only those who love you back.

Please don't misunderstand: God does not call us to remain in unhealthy relationships, nor does He ask us to be doormats. But He does call us to love and pray for those who have wronged us. From personal experience, I can tell you that one of the most difficult things in life is to pray for and love those who do not love you back. Yet, it is often in those moments of obedience that God brings the greatest freedom and healing to our hearts.

In Matthew 5:44, the scripture reads: “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Rise Above the Chaos — Is It Possible?

Today’s news headlines scream chaos:
California Chemical Tank Crisis, White House Security Incident, Escalating Tensions with Iran, and a Global Health Alert.

When you read headlines like these, do you feel peace?
Most likely not.

As I was typing this word for today, I received a text message that read:
“This is a monthly test of the MBC Alert emergency notification system. In an actual emergency, you will receive information on the specific threat.”

WOW! I was literally typing the words “Rise above the chaos,” and this text pops up. How did I choose to react? I immediately locked my mind in prayer… and then I had a good hard laugh because the timing was so fitting.

How do you respond to all the chaos in the media, texts, phone calls, social media, and the endless noise surrounding us?
Can we rise above the chaos?
Is it even possible in such a chaotic world?

I believe it is.

Here are a few ways to help “rise above the chaos”:

Limit your exposure to news, social media, or anything that creates unnecessary stress, fear, or anxiety. Refocus your energy. Take a brisk walk daily and exercise. Walking helps release tension you may have carried throughout the day. Focus on your breathing while you walk — this helps lower your heart rate and allows stress to roll away.

Stop feeding the “a bear is chasing me” syndrome. Ask yourself:

“Will this matter in 7 days?”

“Am I overreacting to this situation or headline?”

If it does matter, then pray and plan. Planning often brings peace to the mind, body, and spirit.

Jesus gave us wonderful encouragement because He knew we would face chaos in this world.

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Philippians 4:6–7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

No matter how loud the world becomes, peace is still possible when our hearts stay anchored in God.

Who says healthy eating has to be boring? Today in the kitchen, I’m whipping up these amazing Spicy Black Bean Burgers! 🌶️🍔

They are loaded with gut-friendly ingredients like black beans, brown rice, grated carrots, red peppers, and garlic, then kicked up a notch with cumin, chili powder, and your favorite hot sauce.

In the video, you’ll see me dusting the patties with a bit of tapioca starch before they hit the pan. This is the ultimate trick for keeping veggie burgers from falling apart while they cook!

I love using an iron skillet for that perfect, grilled-touch finish. In fact, if you haven’t made the switch to cast iron yet, let this be your healthy cooking challenge for the week! Tossing out chemical-laden non-stick pans for reliable cast iron is a simple, massive step toward a non-toxic home.

I served these today bunless over a bed of fresh greens, topped with red onion and a little cheese.

Head over to the Sharin Health website for the full ingredient measurements, and let me know in the comments: Are you team cast-iron or still looking to make the switch? 👇

Rush! Rush! Hustle! Hustle!
Does this sound like your life?

Sometimes, we just need to take time to “smell the roses.”

Several years ago, a friend bought us a climbing rose bush. This year, it has expanded by leaps and bounds! It is stunning to see how it has climbed up our garden fence.

This week, that same friend stopped by during work hours to pick up an item. She said, “I won’t stay long. I know you are busy working in your office.” My first thought was, Yep, gotta keep moving along. Then suddenly, my thoughts shifted: Let’s stop for a minute and smell the flowers together.

I replied, “Let’s take a little time out and walk in the garden together, shall we?”

I gave her a tour of the plants that had flowered and filled the air with fragrance. I asked, “Did you know that the potato flower has a sweet fragrance? (Not edible!)” She was surprised by the lovely scent, and we laughed like small children as we explored together.

After that, we walked over to the blackberry flowers, which have a fruity fragrance and are edible. Then, she looked at the beautiful rose bush she had given us years ago and was amazed at how it had exploded into full bloom. Together, we stopped, enjoyed the fragrance, and took the time to truly “smell the roses.”

As we experienced this simple act of slowing down, a sense of peace and calmness settled over our souls.

Perhaps you don’t have a garden filled with flowers. If that is you, here are a few simple ways to “stop and smell the roses” today:

Disconnect digitally: In the morning, sit quietly with your tea or favorite beverage without your phone, and simply practice being grateful.

Write it down: Name three specific things you are thankful for right now.

Step outside: Go outdoors and simply watch the clouds drift by.

As you feel the gentle wind brushing against your face, remember that the wind reminds us of the presence of God. You cannot see Him, but you can always feel His presence.

Take time to notice the good today, and fill your heart with gratitude. As Philippians 4:8 instructs us:

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Several years ago, my dad passed away and graduated to heaven. He is remembered as someone who led many to Christ; anytime we were out and about, you could count on him sharing his faith with someone new. My mom passed several years ago as well. She is remembered as a woman filled with love, grace, patience, and mercy toward everyone she met.

My husband’s mother, Bonnie Gail Warren, passed away last Thursday. She will be remembered as the heart of her neighborhood—someone to whom children would come for a meal, and she would feed them all. The kids knew they could always stop by her home. They will forever remember how she showed love through her remarkable gift of hospitality and expressed her heart through her exceptional cooking.

How will you be remembered?

Perhaps you feel this is a little morbid and would rather not think about it. But consider: will you be remembered as someone who shared the love of Christ? As someone filled with love, peace, joy, kindness, mercy, and grace? Do people know you as someone who exemplifies high integrity, faithfulness, and a genuine love for others?

How does the Bible guide our legacy? Is it through awards, professional success, or the various metrics the world says are important? While life achievements are wonderful—and we should always strive to do our best—they are not the whole story.

Reflect on these scriptures as you build your eternal legacy:

Galatians 5:22–23: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Micah 6:8: "What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."

1 Peter 1:17: "And if you call on Him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile." (Note: This refers to a holy, reverent fear).

Today, we celebrate Bonnie Gail, knowing she is pain-free and at home with Jesus. I have no doubt she is already serving the best meal heaven has ever seen.

In honor of Bonnie Gail’s heart for service, how can you show someone the love of Christ through a simple act of kindness or hospitality today?

There’s nothing like the pop of color and flavor from fresh garden chives. This year, we’re skipping the store-bought arrangements and putting those beautiful purple blooms right into a Garden Chive Salad. It’s crunchy, zesty, and almost too pretty to eat!

What’s inside:

Crisp Iceberg Lettuce

Fresh Cucumbers

Red Onion

Creamy Feta

Garden Chive Dressing

Edible Chive Blossoms (the star of the show!)

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms out there! How are you celebrating today? ✨

When You Don’t Know What to Do
“We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” (2 Chronicles 20:12)

Our company needed roofing materials in two weeks—during a global pandemic when no one could get them.

When we signed a commercial contract, everything was available. A month later, the world shut down.

Supplies vanished, prices surged, and lead times stretched out for months. We called over 100 stores. The answer was almost always the same: “Good luck. Maybe in six months.”

But we didn’t have six months.

We even reached out to Canada, but they couldn’t supply the U.S. due to their own shortages. Every door seemed closed. At that point, we had a choice: give in to fear—or turn fully to God.

A project manager and I chose, instead of striving harder in our own strength, to worship. Right there in the middle of pressure, deadlines, and uncertainty, we praised Him with a tambourine and loudly sang joyful songs!

We stood on His Word. We asked for wisdom (James 1:5). We fixed our eyes on Him, just like King Jehoshaphat did. And something shifted—not just around us, but within us. Fear lost its grip; peace took its place.

Then, the breakthrough came.

Three different stores suddenly had access to the materials and were willing to ship them immediately. Later, we called one store to thank the woman who had helped us—but no one knew who we were talking about. She wasn’t in their system. No one by that name worked there.

It makes you wonder about angels, because Scripture reminds us that some have “entertained angels without knowing it” (Hebrews 13:2).
The materials arrived on time. The project stayed on schedule. Even the company was amazed.

But more importantly, we learned something deeper:
Rest is not doing nothing. Rest is trusting God while you move in obedience.

Worship became our weapon. Peace became our strength. And God proved faithful.

So, if you find yourself in a place where you don’t know what to do, remember:
Fix your eyes on Him.
Ask for wisdom.
And worship—right in the middle of the storm.

He still makes a way where there seems to be no way.
