“When I started my weight-loss and strength journey, I could barely walk a mile. I was someone who never worked out and never would have imagined that exercise would become such an important part of my life.
I started with walking, then transitioned to Peloton workouts, building strength through both cycling and strength training but they just never seemed like enough. And then came Burn Boot Camp when my friend, Alex, convinced me to go to my first class. Burn quickly became a place I loved. It has pushed me in ways I never thought possible and, somewhere along the way, I stopped just hoping I could get stronger and started realizing that I am strong.
The person who once never worked out is now working out at Burn 5–6 days a week and has already hit 150 classes this year. That number still amazes me. I don’t dread working out anymore — I actually look forward to it. Burn has become something I genuinely enjoy and something I make a priority in my life.
It has also become my way to de-stress from work and life. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, walking into Burn gives me an opportunity to shut everything else out for 45 minutes. I can leave the stress, responsibilities, work, and everything swirling around in my head at the door and just focus on getting through the workout. Sometimes I walk in overwhelmed and walk out feeling like a completely different person. It’s become my reset button.
And the physical changes continue to surprise me. When my brain allows me to believe I can do it, I can do box jumps, I can run building laps (and sometimes even choose to do them), and I can lift heavier than I ever thought I would be able to. I have built strength, endurance, and confidence.“
