This is a very interesting read.

"A 2024 meta-analysis of 12 randomized controlled trials with 632 patients found stem cell therapy more than doubled the odds of clinical remission versus placebo with no increase in serious adverse events, with the strongest promise for Crohn's-related perianal fistulas (1)."

I have a recurring fantasy about disappearing.

Not in a "join witness protection" kind of way.

I mean buying a few acres in the middle of nowhere, parking a camper, growing tomatoes, and pretending society doesn't exist.

Then I remember...

I have Crohn's disease.

An ostomy.

A pharmacy dependency.

More specialists than I can keep track of.

And an MRI department that should probably start giving me loyalty rewards.

Turns out it's pretty hard to "live off the grid" when your intestines are still very much on it.

😂

I wrote about the weird way chronic illness changes your relationship with freedom in the latest Shooting the S**t diary entry.

If you've ever packed enough medical supplies for a weekend trip to survive the apocalypse, I think you'll relate.

🔗 Read it here:

Ever dreamed of living off the grid with an ostomy? Here's why Crohn's disease and an ostomy make that fantasy a little more complicated.

I used to think "off-grid" meant a cabin in the woods. Now, I know true freedom looks a little different when you live with chronic illness. 🌲✨

Seems perfect for suppressed immune systems too

I have a new diagnosis.

Not to brag, but it's known as the rarest cutaneous manifestation of Crohn's disease.

Lucky me.

After years of ulcerative colitis, surgeries, an ostomy, and more medical adventures than I ever signed up for, I decided to start documenting the journey in a new series called Shooting the S**t.

This isn't a polished health blog. It's a diary.

Some entries will be funny. Some won't. Some days I'll have answers. Most days I'll probably just have questions and sarcasm.

If you've ever dealt with chronic illness, an ostomy, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or simply felt like your body was making up new ways to keep life interesting, I'd love for you to follow along.

And if you've been through something similar, tell me about it in the comments. ❤️
