School-night rules are officially back over here, and apparently we all got a little too comfortable with summer 🙃
Later bedtimes. Phones hanging around longer than they should. Mornings that didn’t require everyone to be dressed, fed, packed and out the door before the sun rises.
And now… here we are.
Everyone is adjusting. And sometimes, a rule gets broken and there actually does need to be a consequence.
I’m all for connection, awareness, understanding what’s underneath behavior - you all know this.
But I’m also raising four actual human beings who occasionally make choices they knew perfectly well they weren’t supposed to make 🙈
Discipline is a tricky one in our house. I have a habit of leaning toward permissive (as a recovering people pleaser), but I have to remind myself that these moments are opportunities to teach and I can’t be a willow.
I remember that the consequence isn’t the only lesson, and that the way back is part of the lesson too.
And speaking from the trenches, “you’re grounded until I say so” can become a moving target really fast.
So I made a Reset + Repair Plan that puts the whole thing on paper.
You fill in:
— what happened
— what privilege is being reset
— how many points are needed to earn it back
And then there’s a whole repair + contribution menu they can work from.
Help make dinner? Points.
Laundry from wash → fold → actually putting it away? BIG points. 😂🏳️
Empty the dishwasher, clean a bathroom, write a kind note to someone in the family, take out the trash…(edit for your family)
They can see exactly what needs to happen, participate in making things right, and — most importantly, know when the consequence is over.
I also included a quick parent guide for how to use it so this doesn’t become Chore Prison.
As with all forms of discipline, the point isn’t to make them suffer.
It’s to teach responsibility. Accountability. Repair. A clear path. And then we move on.
I made it for the greater good of the whole and it’s free. And I know you’re going to want hard copies 📋
Comment RESET and I’ll send you the printable + quick guide. 🤍
