Team Sarah Cole Sarah Cole was diagnosed with a brain tumor and has undergone her first surgery but still has a long road ahead of her! Please keep her in your prayers!

Sarah Cole Hardy was born on April 13th, 2011. Her parents are Cassy Hill Hardy and Eric Hardy. Sarah Cole has always been an extremely happy baby girl with a huge grin on her face. She will steal your heart with her big green eyes and beautiful auburn hair. Even though to her it mean yes, her favorite word is no. At 18 months old her walking and motor skills began to regress in addition to her ey

esight. Her parents took her to MUSC and after extensive testing they discovered a very large brain tumor which had been growing since before birth. A week after the tumor was found, they performed surgery to retrieve a biopsy of the tumor and to attempt to remove as much of the tumor as possible. When the biopsy came back, Sarah Cole was diagnosed with stage 2 brain cancer. The tumor was found to be a Pilomyxoid asprocytoma. In the years to come, Sarah Cole will be given chemotherapy treatment to shrink and maintain the size of the tumor until she is between the ages of 3 and 5. At that time her brain will be developed enough to survive radiation treatment to destroy the remaining portion of the tumor. Please keep her and her family in your prayers through this long battle. Thank you all for the prayers and kind words of encouragement for our sweet Sarah Cole on her first Braille Challenge. The day did not go as hoped but some lessons were learned and we have goals to work toward for next years challenge. We are proud as always of our fierce red head and her feisty spirit! Update: Sarah Cole is doing fine on this medication. Her sodium levels came down nicely yesterday but then went back up a little this morning so they adjusted the dose a bit and we will see later this afternoon how it worked. We have to get her sodium stable and keep it stable before we can come home. Sarah Cole is feeling great, playing and being her sassy self. Thank you all for the continued prayers and support.

Unfortunately Sarah Cole had a little set back with her sodium level on Wednesday and had to be admitted at MUSC. She is feeling much better and her levels are slowly getting back to normal which is what the doctor wanted but we will be here a few more days. Eric and I want to say how very Thankful we are to the hospital staff for taking such good care of our girl. MUSC service and dedication to our girl has been such a God send we love them all like family. We also want to express to our family how thankful and grateful we are to you all. We have called on you all in one way or another so many times to help and no matter the ask you all jump right in no questions asked and most of the time we do not even have to ask. You are all so appreciated and loved everyday! Even though we didn’t get to spend this Thanksgiving the way we would have like we are still so thankful and blessed. Today 7 years ago was the day Sarah Coles biopsy results came back that she in fact did have stage 2 brain cancer now today her tumor has been stable and improving over the last 2 years. How mighty our God is! All the Glory be to Him! Thank you all once again for all your continued prayers and support for our sweet girl. We appreciate each one of you! Good morning Team Sarah Cole prayer warriors. I want to start by saying how sorry I am I have not updated her page in quite a while but for us no news is good news. When Sarah Cole is feeling good we get caught up in just enjoying life. I wanted to give an update today because today 7 years ago is when we received Sarah Coles devastating diagnosis and today I am happy to report her tumor has been stable for 2 years! 2 years of no treatment since we went to Florida for proton beam therapy. It is working and she is happy and healthy and loving everyday. We are so very thankful to all of you for always praying and thinking of our sweet girl. I also have to say thank you to all our doctors and nurses at MUSC and UF Proton Center, you guys are amazing and family forever! Also a special thank you to Dr. Rencken for always being there for our family whenever we need him, you are the best! God has continued to bless our family and we are so humble and grateful and just in awe of his mighty love. Thank you all again for the continued prayers and support!!! I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!!!

PRAISE REPORT:
God is amazing and always on time! Sarah Cole has been sick the last several days with some severe headaches like she’s never had before. We saw her primary physician Friday and he put her on antibiotics but when he checked in on her last night,yes our doctor is amazing he always checks on us Gunther Rencken🙂, anyway when I told him the headaches weren’t better he told us to contact her team at MUSC. So we contacted our go to the wonderful Anne Marie Webster who sent us to the pediatric ER at MUSC where we figured out she has hydrocephalus because her shunt is failing. We caught it early and she had surgery at 1 am this morning and is currently very sleepy but doing great! We are so proud of her and just feel incredibly blessed and in aw of Gods amazing mercy and grace! We will be at MUSC for a few days but we have the best doctors here. I can’t say thank you enough to Dr. Rencken for being so diligent with our girl. You take such great care of our entire family! Also a huge thank you shout out to my mom and dad. Mom came to the er with me so Eric could stay with Steelee bc she was upset we had to come to the ER and dad got Steelee from Eric at like 11:30 last night when we found out what was wrong and made sure she was ok and got some sleep. I’m always asked how I do what I do with Sarah Cole and keep positive about life and it’s because God gave me the most amazing supportive family. My circle is unbreakable! I do not take a single one for granted and thank God daily for them all and not all are blood some married in some close friends I am a very blessed person!
