Okay, this is a big one. PCOS isn't called PCOS anymore.
As of 2026 it's PMOS — polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. Long name, I know. But it's a much better one, because the old name made it sound like the whole problem was cysts on your ovaries. It's not, and honestly it never really was.
Swipe through and I'll walk you through it.
For most women, this actually starts with insulin resistance. Your body stops responding to insulin the way it should, so it makes more of it. And all that extra insulin tells your ovaries to pump out more testosterone. That's where the irregular periods, the acne, the hair changes, and the weight that won't come off are coming from.
The part that gets me is that up to 70% of women who have this never get diagnosed. So if you've been told your labs look "fine" but your body clearly disagrees, you're not making it up. It usually just means nobody looked at the whole metabolic picture.
Send this to a friend who's been brushed off. 💚
