Today we recognize International Women's Day and celebrate the extraordinary role women have played in shaping healthcare and advancing health equity around the world. 💜

For generations, women—especially women of color—have been leaders, caregivers, advocates, and innovators in healthcare systems that often overlooked the communities they served. From physicians and nurses to community health advocates and nonprofit leaders, their work has helped expand access to care, improve outcomes, and ensure that more people receive compassionate, culturally responsive healthcare.

At Cook Community Clinic, we see this impact every day. Women make up a vital part of our clinical staff, volunteers, leadership, and community partners who help ensure our uninsured neighbors receive the care and dignity they deserve.

Today we honor the women who paved the way, the women serving our patients today, and the next generation of leaders working to build a healthier, more equitable future for all.

March marks the beginning of Women’s History Month — a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in our community and beyond. 💜

It’s also an important reminder that prioritizing women’s health saves lives.

Regular mammograms are one of the most effective tools for early detection of breast cancer. When caught early, treatment is often more successful and less invasive. Preventive screenings empower women to take charge of their health and protect their futures.

We are especially grateful for our partnership with Novant Health and their Mobile Mammography Bus, which brings lifesaving screenings directly to our community. By removing barriers like cost and transportation, this collaboration helps ensure that more women — regardless of insurance status — have access to essential preventive care.

This Women’s History Month, let’s honor the women in our lives by encouraging preventive care, scheduling screenings, and supporting access to healthcare for all. 💕
