I’ll explore lesser-known serial killers, but the killer won’t be the star—the victims will. We’ll uncover who they were, how their paths crossed with a killer, and remember their lives—not just their deaths.

When a man is raised by a narcissistic mother, the relationship patterns he learned in childhood can follow him into adulthood.

Conditional love. Confusing attention with love. Fear of vulnerability. Constantly seeking external validation. Triangulation.

These patterns can create serious challenges with intimacy, commitment, and emotional connection—and for some men, they may become part of the dynamics surrounding infidelity.

But partner, hear this: His cheating is not evidence that you weren’t enough.

You cannot compete with an unresolved need for validation. You cannot love away his fear of vulnerability. And you cannot heal childhood wounds that he has not chosen to address.

His childhood may help explain the pattern, but it does not excuse his choices.

This is his work to do—not your burden to carry.

I’m honored to be presenting at the 10th Annual Black Mental Health Symposium. 💛

This topic is deeply connected to the work I do every day—bringing language to family dynamics that are often difficult to name, especially within Black families.

“Perceived Black Maternal Narcissism and Their Daughters’ Delinquency” opens a conversation about what can happen when complicated mother-daughter dynamics, trauma, and survival intersect.

Some family patterns have been protected by silence for generations. Healing gives us permission to name them, understand them, and choose something different.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring this conversation to the symposium and to contribute to a decade of advancing Black mental health.

Men can be deeply impacted by narcissistic mothering too—but it often goes unrecognized. If you were taught to manage her emotions, earn her approval, or feel guilty for choosing yourself, those patterns can follow you into adulthood and your relationships. Awareness is where healing begins.
