We are grateful to Ana Belaval, Natalie Skryd the WGN Morning News WGN TV Around Town team for visiting Midwest Outdoor Skills Training at Lake Forest Open Lands.
It was a great opportunity to share what Wilderness First Aid training looks like in practice: hands-on patient assessment, injury management, hypothermia preparedness, splinting, and the decision-making skills that matter when help may be farther away.
Our goal in founding Midwest Outdoor Skills Training was to make high-quality wilderness medicine and outdoor leadership education more accessible throughout the Midwest. I’m thankful to our volunteers, participants, instructors, and the WGN crew for helping bring that mission to a broader audience.
A special thank-you to NOLS Wilderness Medicine NOLS Wilderness Medicine for its leadership in wilderness education and for supporting the high-quality curriculum that helps make this training possible.
Thank you, Ana and WGN-TV, for highlighting the value of outdoor preparedness and community-based learning.
