Sunday's message on obedience had me thinking... 💚

And listen... I'm still a work in progress too. 😂

"Lord, if it be Your will..." 🙏🏽🍗🥤

Obedience is a journey, and thankfully, God's grace meets us every step of the way.

Meet the Founder 💛

Hey, I'm Lani, founder of The Faith Over Flare Collective.

For more than 30 years, I've been living with chronic illness, and life just hits differently.

Parenting hits differently.
Friendships hit differently.
Work hits differently.
Showing up for the people you love... it hits differently.

There have been seasons when I focused more on everything chronic illness had taken from me than on everything God was still doing in my life.

And yet, through it all, God has never stopped showing up for me.

That's why I created The Faith Over Flare Collective.

I wanted to create the kind of space I wish I had years ago—a place where faith and chronic illness can exist in the same conversation. A place where we can be honest about the hard days, celebrate the small victories, encourage one another, and remember that our diagnosis is part of our story, but it is never our identity.

Whether you're living with chronic illness, caring for someone who is, or simply looking for hope...

I'm so glad you're here. My prayer is that this community reminds you that even on the hardest days, you're never walking this journey alone.

🙏🏾 💚 Healing. Growth. Purpose.

Today is World Skin Health Day.

Did you know that millions of people around the world live with a chronic inflammatory skin disease called Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)?

HS is more than "just a skin condition." It can affect physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Today, let's choose awareness over assumptions, compassion over judgment, and support over stigma.

Awareness leads to understanding. Understanding leads to compassion. 💚

Better Knowledge. Better Skin Health.

Happy World Skin Health Day! 💚

World Skin Health Day 💚

Skin health is more than clear skin.

For millions living with chronic skin conditions like Hidradenitis Suppurativa, skin health means:
✅️ Being believed.
✅️ Having access to care.
✅ ️Managing pain.
✅️ Healing without shame.
✅ ️Remembering that your
condition does not define your
worth.

Today, let's raise awareness, extend compassion, and continue advocating for better knowledge, better care, and hope for every person living with a skin condition.

Because healthy skin matters—and so do the people living in it. 💚

Nobody talks about the mental strength it takes just to show up when you're living with a chronic illness.

To go to work. To care for your family. To show up for friends. To attend gatherings. To smile when you're hurting.

For me, some days the hardest part happens before I even walk out the door.

Bathing when your skin stings. Cleaning wounds. Applying medication. Covering multiple areas with bandages. Getting dressed around the pain.

By the time I'm "ready," I've already fought a battle that most people never see.

So when someone says, "Just be strong," or "Mind over matter," they don't realize...

That's what we've been doing all along.

The strength you see isn't mine alone.

"My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." — 2 Corinthians 12:9

When I'm weak...

God is my strength. 🙏🏾💪🏿

✨️🙏🏾✨ Selah Sundays ✨🙏🏾✨️

This week, one word has been on my heart:

Obedience.

I can't help but wonder...

How different would some parts of my life look if I had obeyed God sooner?

Sometimes we pray for God to change our circumstances while He's waiting for us to take the next step in obedience.

Maybe it's letting go of a relationship. A friendship. A habit. Certain foods. A sedentary lifestyle. A job. Or simply trusting Him enough to say, "Yes, Lord."

Not every hardship is because we were disobedient. But sometimes God has already shown us what to do, and we're still holding on to the very thing He's asking us to release.

His plans are always better than ours.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." — Jeremiah 29:11

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." — 3 John 1:2

Take a moment today and ask yourself:

What has God been telling me to let go of?

Then imagine what your life could look like on the other side of obedience.

Now...

Just do it. 🙏🏾💚

🎉 July is here—the start of the second half of the year! 🎉

This month, I'm doing something different.

I'm focusing on one small choice each day to better care for the body God has entrusted to me.

🥁 So... I created the Faith Over Flare Collective™ 31-Day Wellness Challenge!

Day 1: Hydrate
💧 Drink one extra glass of water today.

It may seem small, but small, consistent choices have a way of adding up over time.

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." — 1 Corinthians 10:31

If you'd like to join me this month, save this post, follow along throughout July, and invite a friend to join us. I'd love to hear how you're doing along the way. 🤍

Nobody Talks About...

Nobody talks about how one of the hardest parts of living with chronic illness is grieving the life you thought you'd have.

Not because life is over...

But because sometimes you have to let go of the version of yourself you once were—or the version you thought you'd become—before you can fully embrace who you're becoming.

It's a grief that doesn't always have words.

But I've learned that God can still bring purpose from the consequences of our choices, the circumstances we never chose, and everything in between.

"For in Him we live and move and have our being." — Acts 17:28

I'm still learning to trust Him with the life I didn't expect.

Have you ever had to grieve a version of your life you thought you'd have?
