Our heritage lives in the languages we speak, the stories passed down through generations, the music and art we create, the food we share, and the communities we build. We recognize how culture contributes to our identity and connection to others.

We also recognize the importance of culturally responsive mental health care. Every person deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, understood and supported.

This month, and every month, we honor the strength, resilience, and diversity of our Latino communities.

Rooted in Care Awardee Spotlight 🌿

We are proud to present our Community Partner Award to Edna Navarro Vidaurre with Birth to Five Region 1A (City of Chicago).
A Chicago-born advocate and systems change leader, Edna brings over 30 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and Care to everything she does. As Regional Council Manager for Birth to Five Illinois Region 1A and an Erikson Institute Fellow, she has been a connector, collaborator, and champion for Northwest Side families long before she crossed paths with EMHS.

Edna founded a Northwest Side park advisory council that secured real community investments, and she has opened doors for us — to resources, networks, and partnerships that strengthen our early child programs and the communities we serve together.

We are grateful for her, and we cannot wait to celebrate her next week. 💐

In two weeks, we want you to join us for our 11th Annual Summer Fundraiser — Rooted in Care — a celebration of the communities we serve and the people who make our work possible. Together, we'll raise the resources that keep the Kedzie Center and LoSAH Center of Hope rooted in Logan Square, Avondale, Hermosa, and the North River neighborhoods.

An evening of live music, meaningful connection, and a spirited silent auction awaits. Join us! https://expandedmentalhealthservicesofchicagonfp.networkforgood.com/events/99542-rooted-in-care-the-11th-annual-emhs-summer-fundraiser
