An Update from Little Fern & Friends 💚

To our amazing Little Fern & Friends families,

I wanted to share a personal update with all of you.

As many of you know, our family has been navigating an incredibly difficult housing situation. After discovering extensive mold and structural issues that existed before we purchased our home, we’ve been forced to make some very hard decisions. Our insurance has denied coverage because the damage was pre-existing and had been covered up before we bought the house. We are fortunate to have an amazing legal team helping us, and we’re hopeful for a positive outcome.

In the meantime, we’re still paying the mortgage on a home we can’t safely live in, and we’re rebuilding our lives from the ground up after losing nearly everything. Because of all of this, the boys and I will be moving to Texas for a fresh start, while Nick remains in Maine until his Army contract is complete.

With this new chapter comes a bittersweet change for Little Fern & Friends.

I am officially handing this Maine branch over to Kate. I truly couldn’t imagine a better person to continue what we’ve built together. Kate is kind, compassionate, dedicated, and shares the same heart for creating an inclusive space where every child and every family feels welcome. I know she will take wonderful care of this community, and I couldn’t be more grateful for her willingness to step into this role.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every family, volunteer, library, community partner, and supporter who believed in this mission. Watching Little Fern & Friends grow has been one of the greatest privileges of my life, and it’s because of all of you that it became something so special.

This isn’t goodbye to the mission—it simply means it’s continuing with someone I trust completely while our family begins a new chapter.

Thank you for your love, your encouragement, and your support through every season. Little Fern & Friends has always been about community, and I know that community will continue to thrive.

Another wonderful event at the South China Public Library!! Thank you to those who came and we hope to see you at the next one!!😊

Reading “Dragons Love Tacos” by Adam Rubin gave us great ideas for this event! I am so glad the kids enjoyed the Taco themed sensory bin, making their very own dragons, and dragon eggs!

Over the past several months, life behind the scenes has been incredibly heavy for our family. Like many families, we’ve been navigating challenges that have required more of our time, energy, and attention than we ever expected.

Little Fern & Friends has always been built from the heart — from a place of love, community, and a desire to see every child and family feel welcome and supported. Because of that, I want to be honest and transparent with our community as we move forward.

At this time, we need to take a small step back to focus on our family and personal responsibilities. This does not mean Little Fern & Friends is going away. Our upcoming scheduled events will continue, and we remain deeply committed to the families who support and believe in this mission.

However, you may notice fewer events, slower responses, or a quieter online presence while we regroup and focus on what matters most.

Thank you for continuing to support Little Fern & Friends through every season — not just the easy ones. This community has always been built on compassion, understanding, and showing up for one another, and we are so grateful for that now more than ever. 🤍

💙 April is Autism Awareness Month 💙

This month is deeply personal to me—and to Little Fern & Friends. Autism isn’t one-size-fits-all. Every child is different, every experience is different, and every journey is uniquely their own.

That’s why I’ve started making these bracelets. 🧩
Each one will be a little different—different colors, different beads, different patterns—because no two children with autism are the same. And that’s something to celebrate, not change.

These bracelets are a small way to spread awareness, start conversations, and remind our community that every child belongs—exactly as they are.

If you see one that speaks to you, know it was made with love and intention. 💙
