Episode 25 π π€ Where We Stand
After 25 episodes of A Home, Not Just a House, I thought it was time for a recap.
For anyone new here, I started building this business in 2015, and our first resident moved in in January 2016. For more than a decade, these homes have provided residential care and stability for women living with serious mental illness.
One important piece of the story I hadnβt shared publicly until now: I own the business, but I donβt own the properties. My ex-husband does. Following our divorce, I continued operating the homes under a lease, and the properties are now for sale.
So far:
π Multiple financing options explored
π€ 7 donors + $250 raised
π The combined asking price is now $290,000
π€ Iβm now exploring whether purchasing one home instead of both could be a realistic path forward
Our lease runs through December 2027, and nothing about the day-to-day care happening inside these homes has changed.
There are still a lot of unknowns, but Iβm not giving up. Iβm adjusting the goal as I learn more and will continue sharing meaningful updates along the way.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our story, offered advice, or simply followed along. It truly matters. π€
