Where are my fellow pill organizer users? 🙋🏾‍♀️💊

Here I am in my nightgown for my monthly ritual of filling up my pill organizer. It's not glamorous. And it's definitely not exciting 😆
But honestly, it helps me so much.

I hear from patients all the time that they don't want to use a pill organizer because it makes them feel old or because it makes them feel like they're taking too many medications.

I get it.

But there is absolutely no shame in using tools that help you optimize your daily routines and your health. 💙

The 5–10 minutes once a month that it takes to do this saves me time and mental energy every single day. I don't have to open multiple bottles every day, wonder whether I took something, or try to remember if I missed a dose.

My pill organizer helps me remember to take my medications. It also helps me see when I've missed doses. Instead of guessing, I can look back and know exactly how often it happened, which helps me improve my own consistency and gives me better information to share with my doctors.

As physicians, we often talk about medication adherence as if it's easy. The reality is that life gets busy, routines get disrupted, and everyone forgets sometimes. Even your doctors! 😊

If a simple pill organizer helps you stay on track, use it. 🙌🏾

What helps you remember your medications: a pill organizer, alarms, an app, or something else? Share your best tips below! ⬇️

🚨 Diabetes researchers being escorted out of the ADA Scientific Sessions by police was definitely not on my bingo card for 2026.

The researchers and physicians were distributing copies of a Diabetes Care editorial published this month that criticized proposed cuts to biomedical research funding and warned about the potential impact on future diabetes research.

This is not about everyone agreeing with the content of the editorial.

But, if we're at a point where diabetes researchers and physicians can be threatened with arrest simply for handing out a published  editorial about the future of diabetes research, something has gone very wrong.

Every breakthrough my patients benefit from today exists because researchers were free to ask difficult questions, challenge ideas, speak openly, and secure the funding needed to pursue answers.

This is not about politics. It's about protecting the freedom to ask questions, supporting medical research, and ensuring that patients can continue to benefit from innovation and discovery.

This is outrageous and should concern all of us. 🩵

With the wrapping up this past week, I couldn't help but think about our recent trip to NYC where we saw The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee... where I somehow ended up being selected as one of the four audience member spelling bee contestants in the show! 🎭

This show was absolutely hysterical, and the cast was incredible at guiding four completely unprepared audience members through their musical numbers. 😂

But underneath the comedy was a lesson that goes far beyond a school spelling bee. 🐝

Each character had their own quirks, insecurities, strengths, challenges, and way of navigating the world. The show was a reminder that people are rarely defined by a single achievement, diagnosis, or label. ✨️

As an endocrinologist, that's something I see every day. 🩺

No two patients are exactly alike. Two people can have the same diagnosis and need completely different approaches, support systems, and treatment plans. What works well for one person may not work at all for another.

One of the things I love most about medicine is getting to know the person behind the diagnosis and helping create a plan that works for them. 💙

I recently had the opportunity to connect with an incredible therapist who is part of a woman owned business here in Cincinnati. ✨

Earlier this week, I connected with Rebecca Morra, LPCC, from .roots.counseling and I am so excited to have made this connection! Rebecca works with a wide variety of patients, but has also created such an important and much needed niche within her practice by specializing in supporting individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes and parents of children with T1D. 🩵

What makes her perspective especially unique is that she herself lives with Type 1 Diabetes and is also the mother of a child with T1D. She brings the lens of patient, parent, and therapist to the work she does, which is incredibly powerful and rare. 💉

As an endocrinologist who cares for many patients with T1D, I have been searching for a resource like this for a very long time. The emotional and mental health aspects of living with diabetes are so significant, and this type of truly specialized support has been very hard to find. 👩🏾‍⚕️

Rebecca’s approach is compassionate, thoughtful, individualized, and deeply rooted in building strong relationships with her clients. Her philosophy around patient care feels very aligned with my own, and I cannot wait to collaborate with her to better support my patients and families. 🤝🏾

May is Osteoporosis Awareness Month ✨️

Osteoporosis is often called a “silent disease” because bone loss can happen gradually over many years before symptoms or fractures occur. That is why proactive bone health matters so much 🦴

At our recent Calci YUM cooking class, we focused on the idea that food can be powerful medicine when it comes to supporting bone health Together, we made meals featuring a variety of dietary sources of calcium including kale, broccoli, bok choy, tofu, sardines, figs, and more 🥬🥦🐟

We also discussed the important role that adequate protein, vitamin D, resistance training, and lifestyle habits play in supporting stronger bones over time 💪🏾

It was such a fun evening with so many women interested in taking a proactive approach to their bone health 👩🏾‍🍳

We’re already planning more classes and events like this, so stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to learn practical, realistic ways to support your health through food and lifestyle. ✨️

Amazing night at the Breakthrough T1D gala 💙

So much hope, advocacy, innovation, and support all in one room. From honoring Orlando Brown Jr. for his advocacy efforts to hearing the powerful story shared by the Linn family, it was a reminder of both how challenging type 1 diabetes can be and how much progress is being made.

Grateful to be part of a community so passionate about improving the future of T1D care and research 🩵

Motherhood looks different for everyone. 💖

For some, it’s raising children.
For some, it’s loving stepchildren, nieces, nephews, pets, students, friends, or the people who simply become family along the way. 🫶🏾

Lately, I’ve found myself emotional watching my daughter prepare to start high school and navigate her early teenage years. There is something so complicated, bittersweet, and beautiful about the mother daughter relationship during this stage of life. Watching her become more independent while still needing me in different ways has made me reflect so much on my relationship with my own mom. ✨

And honestly… it has made me appreciate my mom even more than I already do. Because now I see the worry, the patience, the balancing act of giving your daughter independence while still wanting to protect her, and all the things she quietly (and not so quietly 😉) put up with from me during those years.

At the same time, motherhood for me has also meant becoming a fierce advocate for my son, loving him exactly as he is, and helping the world see all that he brings to it in his own special way. ♾️

Today is for all the women who nurture, support, protect, encourage, and love others in ways both big and small. 🌸

Happy Mother’s Day. 💐
