I had the honor of assisting a family with their labor and delivery last Friday. My first as a Provisionally Certified Doula. I learned so much and am so grateful to be included in such an important day for this family. Mom and baby are healthy. Praise the Lord! It was an invaluable experience.

I’d say it took me about 3 days to recover physically from the hard work of squeezing hips and vigilantly doing all the doula things I could do. I was with the family for 14 hours, awake for 24.

The labor/birth was at Christ Hospital downtown. I had a good experience with the nurses on staff there. Everyone was respectful and professional. A great team effort. I’d be happy to work with all the nurses I met, again.

A huge thank you to my husband for holding down the fort while I was away and recovering for the days following. ♥️

I am so proud of my client, asking for more time for labor to start naturally (at 40 weeks, going on 42). Has delayed a scheduled cesarean and delayed a scheduled induction already. AND, most importantly, her provider is supportive of her TOLAC/VBAC. This is the kind of patience and care we need to see more of in prenatal and obstetrics care in America. I love to see it. ❤️
