Education Post 💆‍♀️✨

Let’s talk about nerve glides—one of the most overlooked tools for improving movement and reducing irritation.

Despite the name, you're not actually stretching the nerve. Instead, you're helping it move smoothly through the tissues that surround it.

What are nerve glides?
Nerve glides (also called nerve flossing or neural glides) are gentle, controlled movements that encourage a nerve to slide freely as your joints move.

Why are they helpful?
✨ Can improve mobility of the nervous system
✨ May reduce feelings of tingling or tightness caused by nerve irritation
✨ Help restore normal movement patterns
✨ Support flexibility without putting excessive tension on the nerve

Who might benefit?
People experiencing symptoms related to nerve irritation, such as:
• Tingling or numbness
• Burning or shooting sensations
• Tightness that doesn't improve with stretching alone
• Discomfort that follows the path of a nerve

A quick reminder:
Nerve glides should feel gentle. They should never create sharp pain or significantly increase your symptoms. If they do, stop and consult a qualified healthcare professional.

✨ Not every tight feeling is a muscle—sometimes your nerves need a little room to move, too.

Your muscles, joints, and nervous system all work together. When one isn't moving well, the others often feel it. 🤍

Muscle Talk Monday 💪✨

Let's talk about the Deep Six Glute Muscles—the hidden muscles that do a lot more than most people realize! 👀

Beneath your glute muscles are six small but mighty muscles that help stabilize your hips and keep you moving smoothly:
• Piriformis
• Superior Gemellus
• Obturator Internus
• Inferior Gemellus
• Obturator Externus
• Quadratus Femoris

What do they do?
✨ Stabilize your hip joint
✨ Rotate your leg inward and outward
✨ Help maintain balance when you walk or stand on one leg
✨ Support smooth, pain-free movement

Why they get tight:
• Sitting for long periods
• Running or cycling
• Heavy lifting
• Muscle imbalances
• Overuse or repetitive movements

Signs they may need attention:
• Deep glute pain
• Hip stiffness
• Pain that may travel into the back of the leg (especially if the piriformis is involved)
• Discomfort when sitting for long periods

How massage helps:
By releasing tension in these deep muscles, massage can improve hip mobility, reduce discomfort, and help restore healthy movement patterns.

✨ Fun fact: Even though they're small, these muscles play a huge role in keeping your hips stable. When they're not functioning well, other muscles often have to compensate, which can contribute to discomfort in the hips, low back, and even the knees.

Strong, balanced hips are the foundation for healthy movement—and these "hidden" muscles are a big part of that foundation. 🤍

💡 Fun Fact Friday + Education: Let’s Talk Thai Table Massage!

Did you know that Thai Table Massage combines the benefits of massage and assisted stretching—without ever having to get down on the floor?

Unlike traditional Thai massage that’s performed on a mat, Thai Table Massage is done on a massage table, making it more accessible and comfortable while still giving you all the amazing stretching benefits.

✨ What are the benefits?
• Increases flexibility and range of motion
• Helps reduce muscle tension and stiffness
• Improves circulation
• Encourages better posture
• Can leave you feeling both energized and deeply relaxed

Think of it as having someone gently stretch your body in ways you can’t easily do on your own. It’s especially helpful if you sit at a desk all day, work out regularly, or just feel like your body needs a good reset.

Fun Fact: Many people say they feel taller after a Thai Table Massage! While your bones don’t actually grow, releasing tight muscles and improving posture can make you stand straighter and move more freely.

Have you ever tried Thai Table Massage, or is it on your wellness bucket list? Let me know in the comments! 👇

💪 Muscle Talk Monday: The Iliacus

Ever feel a deep ache in the front of your hip, low back tightness, or discomfort after sitting for long periods? Your iliacus might be asking for some attention!

The iliacus is one of the two muscles that make up your iliopsoas, commonly known as your primary hip flexor. It sits on the inside of your pelvis and works with the psoas to lift your leg, help you walk, climb stairs, and stabilize your lower back and pelvis.

✨ When it’s tight, you may notice:

* Front hip or groin pain
* Low back discomfort
* Difficulty standing up straight after sitting
* Reduced hip mobility
* A pulling sensation when walking or exercising

💡 Ways to help at home:
• Get up and move regularly if you sit for long periods.
• Perform gentle hip flexor stretches (without forcing the stretch).
• Strengthen your glutes and core to improve pelvic stability.
• Practice diaphragmatic breathing to reduce unnecessary tension through the hip flexors.

Massage therapy can also help release tension in the iliacus, improve mobility, and decrease compensations that contribute to hip and low back pain. Because of its location, treating this muscle requires specific training and techniques to work safely and effectively.

Have you ever noticed tightness in the front of your hips after a long day of sitting? Let me know in the comments! 👇

🎉 Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know your head weighs about 10–12 pounds?

But here’s the wild part…for every inch your head moves forward, the load on your neck increases dramatically. Looking down at your phone for long periods can make your neck support the equivalent of 40–60 pounds of force!

📱 That’s one reason “tech neck” has become so common.

A few easy ways to give your neck a break:
✔️ Hold your phone closer to eye level.
✔️ Take a stretch break every 30–60 minutes.
✔️ Roll your shoulders back and do a few chin tucks throughout the day.

Your neck is working harder than you think—show it a little love! 💙

What’s your biggest culprit: 📱 phone, 💻 computer, or 😴 sleeping position?

📚 Education Wednesday: Let’s Talk About Neck Pain

Your neck works hard every single day. Between phones, computers, driving, stress, and even the way we sleep, it’s no surprise that neck pain is one of the most common complaints I hear.

Here are a few things you can do at home to help:

✨ Chin Tucks – Gently pull your chin straight back (like you’re making a double chin) and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times. This helps improve posture and strengthens the muscles that support your neck.

✨ Stretch Your Upper Traps – Tilt one ear toward your shoulder until you feel a gentle stretch. Hold for 20–30 seconds on each side. Don’t force it!

✨ Take Screen Breaks – If you’re working at a computer, try to get up every 30–60 minutes. Even a quick walk or a few shoulder rolls can make a big difference.

✨ Use Heat for Tight Muscles – A warm heating pad or warm shower can help relax tense muscles. Apply heat for 15–20 minutes at a time.

✨ Check Your Pillow – Your pillow should keep your neck in a neutral position—not cranked up too high or dropping too low.

✨ Manage Stress – Stress often shows up in the neck and shoulders. Deep breathing, stretching, or a short walk can help reduce muscle tension.

🚩 If your neck pain is severe, follows an injury, causes numbness or tingling down your arm, weakness, or doesn’t improve, it’s important to be evaluated by a healthcare professional.

Remember: Pain is your body’s way of asking for attention—not something you have to “push through.”

What’s one thing that makes your neck feel better? Let me know in the comments! 💙

✨ Tell Me Tuesday ✨

The neck was the winner this week! 🎉

Now it’s your turn…

Tell me ONE neck stretch you’ve done this week (or even today!), and I’ll reply with one tip to help your neck feel even better. 🙌

No wrong answers—whether it’s a gentle side stretch, chin tucks, shoulder rolls, or just looking away from your screen for a minute. 😉

Let’s help those necks feel a little happier together! Drop your stretch in the comments. 💆‍♀️

💪 Muscle Talk Monday: Sternocleidomastoid (SCM)

Don’t let the name scare you! The sternocleidomastoid, or SCM, is one of the most important muscles in your neck.

📍 Where is it?
It’s the long muscle that runs from just behind your ear down to your collarbone and breastbone. You can often see or feel it when you slowly turn your head to one side.

What does it do?
✔️ Turns your head from side to side.
✔️ Helps tilt your head.
✔️ Assists in looking up.
✔️ Even helps with deep breathing by lifting the rib cage when you take a big breath.

When it’s tight, you may notice:
⚡ Neck pain or stiffness.
⚡ Tension headaches.
⚡ Pain around the jaw or behind the ear.
⚡ Dizziness or a feeling of imbalance in some people.
⚡ Limited range of motion when turning your head.

What can help?
✨ Gentle neck stretches.
✨ Good posture—especially when using your phone or computer.
✨ Heat to relax tight muscles.
✨ Massage therapy to reduce tension and improve mobility.

The SCM may be small, but when it’s unhappy, you’ll definitely know it! Taking care of this muscle can make a huge difference in how your neck, jaw, and even your headaches feel.

Have you ever noticed tenderness along the side of your neck? It just might be your SCM asking for a little attention! 💙
