This is our new friend Elvis Westley during his neurological evaluation at SCAN. He is a 2-year-old domestic shorthair whose brain did not properly develop. This is most likely due to a congenital disease. Elvis' condition causes tremors and jerky, uncoordinated movements.

Elvis (Westley) is in the building!

This adorable cat came to see Dr. Laifer at SCAN for tremors and jerky, uncoordinated walking. An MRI was recommended and results revealed an underdeveloped brain that is likely caused by congenital disease. The brain failing to properly develop can effect fine motor skills and balance.

His condition is not painful and he has acclimated well to his daily life. He is a super sweet and happy boy! ☺️

July 22nd is World Brain Day and our good friend, Mr. Cat, is here to tell you his story! Mr. Cat came to see Dr. Lind after his mom noticed behavioral changes including ataxia and confusion. After a consultation with Dr. Lind, a decision was made to proceed with an MRI. The MRI revealed a meningioma (tumor) in the brain and because of the limited amount of space, the tumor causes compression on the brain tissue.

Mr. Cat underwent surgery where the majority of the tumor was able to be removed. He recovered well after his surgery and he has been doing great ever since! At his most recent visit, his mom even said that he has become more engaged and more social! We loved caring for Mr. Cat and we continue to root for him in his journey. 🥰

It's another SCAN success story!! 🎉

Lilo came to us as an emergency when she was no longer able to stand or walk using her pelvic limbs. She underwent an MRI and spinal surgery for an intervertebral disc herniation with Dr. Laifer. Lilo received a ton of love during her post op care and after plenty of rest, she is up and moving again!

We're all so happy that this adorable lady continues to improve throughout her recovery 🥰

We got to meet Jerry's brother Tom! 😍 Just a few weeks ago, we introduced everyone to Jerry, a 7-month-old Pug, after he came to SCAN for hind limb paraparesis. Tom, like Jerry, also has a vertebral malformation which can cause weakness in his hind limbs and like his brother, he continues to be a very happy pup!

Tom is under the care of Pug Rescue of Florida and Georgia and will be up for adoption. For our Jerry fans out there, the rescue reports he's doing just great!

Today is the first day of Take Your Pet to Work Week, but around here, every day feels a bit like that! 🐾 Two of our frequent visitors, Bear and Wesley know the hallways of SCAN as well as the staff! They have a special way of brightening our day, reducing stress, and reminding us to take a moment to enjoy the little things.

Whether Bear or Wes are supervising from under a desk, greeting team members, or demanding treats during meetings, we are incredibly grateful for these two canine coworkers. 🐶
