In the 15 years I been working to get camera laws passed in all states I did a pretty good job. Getting it passed in Ohio, helping in Nevada, working in Alabama, Florida, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and at least 10 other states.

This is just a few from the Health Care Associations in these states. As an advocate you need to know how to get the door open to talk, then you need to know what to say.

Hopefully we will get the Federal Law for cameras in all states and every facility submitted soon called Esther's Law.

You stick to the issue and that is all you need, nothing else matters.

This petition has been given to the United States Congress and the media is following up on it. We have $1,539 in contributions from 69 supporters.

If you are a advocate, resident, family or concerned person of the care that is given at Long Term Care Facilities, your name should be on this petition.

If you really care you should sign and share this petition.

This is the only law that works. It works from the time you put in the camera, and you don't have to wait to the Federal Government to declare a pandemic to close nursing home only for a law that might work. This law is for all care facilities no pandemic needed.

They can't keep doing stories on who has the worst nursing home and who has the most abuse, and where the abuse is at or keep reporting abuse and do nothing about it. This is just a story to them.

This is a CBS News story.
This is from 2013 on findings in 2012. My mother is the one from Ohio at the 1:31 mark. The nursing home that abused her was fined $327,000 the largest fine given to any nursing home in 2012.

At this time I can tell you we are talking to our U.S. Congress on submitting a Bill that would allow residents to have a camera in their room if they want one. It is not a mandatory law and all PRIVACY rights have been addressed, this includes HIPAA who people don't even know what it is, for your information HIPAA is a PRIVACY LAW. Residents cannot violate their own privcay.

Esther's Law is named after her and many states used this to get their laws passed and used Esther's Law to try and get a camera law.

SB154 and HB809 must be opposed. These legislators tried to pull a fast one and I caught them. We need your help to stop the abuse of our loved ones in long term care facilities, legislators are going to continue to let this happen if you don't speak up. It only takes one email to let your voice be heard.

My niece made this video 15 years ago when my mother was brutally abused in a Nursing Home. I fought for the next 10 years to get a law passed in Ohio named after Esther Piskor, "Esther's Law". It allows residents of Nursing Homes to have a camera in their room, it is not a mandatory law.

Since Esther's Law was signed by Governor DeWine I have been trying to get it amended to include other facilities and fix needed language changes.

CAMERAS ARE THE ONLY LAW THAT WORKS, NO OTHER LAW STOPS ABUSE OR DOES ANYTHING AT ALL.

Ohio Senator Ingram and Senator Antonio introduced Senate Bill 154 to amend Esther's Law. The amendments were changed in a sub Bill to favor nursing homes and give total control of the camera to the administrator. This language change will make it much harder to have a camera and it will cause more neglect, abuse, r**e and murder of your loved ones.

Ohio Representatives Melanie Mill and Representative Bride Rose Sweeny introduced HB809 the same as SB154 that takes control of cameras from family and gives it to the administrator.
Representative Miller in a media interview said " there must be a balance in Esther's Law, which means they want to make it so the family and facility benefit from Esther's Law.

I told them WE WILL NOT NEGOTIATE ABUSE.

You can see this is 15 years ago today and I was fighting for the camera in nursing homes. At this time there were only three states that had a camera law and all of them had to be amended because none of them were good. I had several media stories about making a camera law in Ohio and a federal law.

Camera laws are the only law that helps families, residents and facilities 24/7. The help stop neglect, abuse, r**e and murder. They provide transparency and accountability NO other law does this.

The Essential Care Givers Act does nothing for resident now, you have to wait until Governments, WHO and CDC declare a pandemic worldwide, and even then it has loopholes, and this law applies to nursing homes only. This is a law that will never be used. Remember COVID WAS NOT JUST IN THE UNITED STATES AND NOT JUST IN NURISNG HOMES.

The Guardians Bill of Rights is another law that does nothing, it is just like the Residents Bill of Rights that will be 40 years old in a few months, and that Bill still does nothing.

There has been much media, family and advocate attention to the two proposed amendments to Esther's Law. The House Bill 809 gave full control to the administrators of long term care facilities. By the summer legislative break the Senate Bill 154 was changed to almost exactly what the House Bill did, and that is, residents would lose control of the camera.

Since then both of these Bills have been in question and opposed. A complaint I filed against an administrator on violating Esther's Law from removing a camera and SD card was substantiated. I filed another complaint on Esther's Law because the administrator tried to give a family a camera they wanted them to use. I said the had no rights to pick the camera they wanted. This complaint was also substantiated and the resident was allowed to put their camera back in. The facility installed it and a shelve at no cost. The camera had two way communication and could be maneuvered manually.

This was the reason the administrator removed the camera.
These two Bills are in trouble and both sponsors know it. My amendments have been submitted.

Ohio Legislator will be back in session soon and we need to email the Senate Health committee and tell them to accept the sub Bill with my amendments for hearings.
