Believe her the first time.

Too many women spend years trying to convince people that their pain is real.

They should not have had to work that hard to be believed.

Pain does not become legitimate only when it is visible, measurable, or finally given a name.

The first response matters. It shapes what gets documented, what gets investigated, how quickly care moves, and whether a woman feels safe asking for help again.

Believing her does not mean pretending to know the diagnosis. It means taking her experience seriously enough to listen carefully, document what she says, investigate what could be happening, and follow up.

Partners can do that. Parents can do that. Providers must do that.

When a woman says she is in pain, the first question should not be, “Are you sure?”

It should be, “Tell me what is happening. Let’s figure out the next step.”

Believe her the first time.

Most of this book is for normal men who mean well and still screw things up.

Men who love their families, work hard, carry a lot, and still miss things that matter. Men who get defensive, disappear into work, forget the calendar, leave too much for someone else to manage, or convince themselves that good intentions should count more than their impact.

But there is also a clear line in this book.

If you hit or hurt your wife, girlfriend, partner, kids, or anyone in your home, do not hide behind the “men who mean well” language. You are hurting people. Making someone afraid in their own home crosses a clear line.

Get help. Real help.

I made a small place on the internet for people who could use a little more light.

It’s called Get a Little Sunshine.

Some days feel heavier than they should. The site gives you one good thought, one small thing you can do in real life, and a reminder that you are not the only human trying to figure all of this out.

There are no rankings, streaks, or prizes for being the best person. We are simply counting the good we put into the world together—and celebrating the fact that a bunch of imperfect humans are still showing up for one another.

You can also sign up for 7 Days of Sunshine: one deeper note each day for a week, followed by one Human First message each week.

It’s warm, a little weird, occasionally hopeful, and built for real life.

Come get a little sunshine. If you have some left over, give a little away.

I wrote a new blog post about Get Out of the Way and why this book matters so much to me.

This one is personal. It starts with my mom, who was a nurse, my sister, who is a teacher, and the women who mentored me early in my career. It runs through my life with Kellie, watching Sammie fight to be believed through endometriosis, and the women leaders I continue to learn from in community health.

I wrote this book because women have shaped almost everything good in me. They have taught me, challenged me, loved me, corrected me, led beside me, and made me better. I also wrote it because I have not always gotten this right. I have talked when I should have listened. I have moved too fast. I have missed things I should have seen. That is part of the work too.

Get Out of the Way is not about men being the enemy. It is about men taking responsibility. It is about moving authority, credit, protection, belief, and resources where they belong. It is about understanding that women do not need permission to lead. They are already leading.

The book is free on Kindle from July 6 through July 10. If you read it and it speaks to you, I’d be grateful for an honest Amazon review.

Women do not need permission to lead. Men need to stop standing in the doorway.

That is the heart of Get Out of the Way: A Man’s Case for Women Leading What Comes Next.

I wrote this book for men who are willing to look honestly at power, authority, belief, credit, protection, responsibility, and the rooms we have shaped for too long.

Women have already been leading in homes, healthcare, companies, communities, families, movements, and organizations. Too often, men have treated that leadership as support instead of authority.

This book is part of the MikeBakerHQ Human First universe, connected to the same work behind Believe Her the First Time, Man vs. Menopause, The Better Man Field Guide, and the broader Believe Her lane: listening to women sooner, believing women’s pain, supporting women’s leadership, and helping men grow up without making women carry the cost.

If this message matters to you, grab a copy, share it with a man who needs the conversation, and please leave an honest Amazon review after you read it. Reviews help independent books reach the people, teams, and rooms that need them.

The truth is, if people knew your whole story, they might wonder how you’re still smiling.

That line lands hard because every one of these books came from the parts of life that rarely fit in a clean caption. Marriage. Fatherhood. Endometriosis. Alzheimer’s. ADHD. Faith. Leadership. Grief. Love. The future. The days when you keep going because people you love still need you, even when you are tired in places nobody sees.

Then the pictures at the end tell the deeper story.

Kellie and me.

Me and Sammie.

My kids.

And then me.

That’s the life behind the books. That’s the reason I kept writing. That’s the reason I still smile. That’s the reason I believe a good life is worth fighting for, even when the hard chapters take more from you than you knew they could.

I don’t want people to miss this part.

You get one life. You get the people who love you. You get the moments you almost scroll past, the photos you almost don’t take, the conversations you almost put off, the story you almost keep buried because you think nobody will understand.

These books are pieces of my story, but they were written for yours too.

I hope one of them finds you at the right time. I hope it helps you feel less alone. I hope it reminds you that a happy life is still possible, even after everything that tried to break your smile.

I released 10 books at once.

I know how that sounds. It’s a lot. But these books all came from the same place: family, grief, women’s pain, ADHD, faith change, AI, leadership, and the work of staying human when life gets heavy.

This week on Still Here, Still Trying, I talk about why the books exist, how they connect, and what Mike Baker HQ is becoming.

Start with the book that meets what you’re carrying right now.

EndoDad community, I need your help today.

I made two books free on Kindle for the final day, and I need help getting them moving on Amazon so more people see them.

Everyone talks about how much better life would be if more men understood endometriosis, chronic pain, perimenopause, menopause, medical dismissal, and the emotional weight women carry when they have to explain their pain over and over.

These books are my attempt to help.

They are tools for dads, husbands, partners, sons, brothers, friends, and the people who love an endo warrior but don’t always know what to say or how to show up.

I wrote them from my heart. From being a dad. From being a husband. From watching women I love carry pain they should have been believed about sooner.

Today is the LAST DAY they are free on Kindle. Amazon only gives me this window once per book. After today, the free download is gone.

Please download both today, even if you read them later. Every download helps Amazon notice them. Every download helps these books reach the next family, the next partner, the next man who needs a better starting point.

Believe Her the First Time

Please grab them. Please share them. Please send them to someone who loves an endo warrior or needs to understand how to show up better.
