Please help us welcome Ms. Allegra to our practice! She will be joining us this summer.

Allegra has been a pediatric occupational therapist for 26 years, mainly in the public schools. She has also overseen fieldwork for occupational therapy assistant students at the college level at a site for adults with developmental disabilities. She absolutely loves working with children, as well as their families to help every student/client become as independent as possible in all the areas of childhood occupation: play, fine motor, visual motor, visual perception, sensory processing, self care, executive functioning, etc. She is a mom of three adult daughters. She is excited to be a part of the team at Arise n’ Shine and looks forward to collaborating with parents to help every child attain the skills they need.

We have a few spots remaining in our summer reading groups. We would love for your child to join in on the fun and learning!

Each group meets Wednesdays for 4 weeks, July 15-August 5th. Each class is 1.5 hours long and has no more than 5 children in a group. Classes are run by a special education teacher.

Story Sprouts 9-10:30am

Story Sprouts is designed for blossoming readers who are building fluency and growing their confidence with early reading skills. This group is ideal for children who are learning to decode unfamiliar words using letter-sound knowledge, spelling patterns, and helpful picture or context clues. Children will also strengthen their comprehension skills—retelling stories, identifying main ideas, and understanding the sequence of events.

Literacy Launchers
Literacy Launchers is an exciting group designed for children who are ready to launch themselves into the atmosphere of reading! Perfect for confident readers who are eager to explore stories more deeply, this group helps children develop the tools they need to truly understand and enjoy what they read. Together, we’ll explore a variety of genres and learn to read with different purposes—whether it’s for fun, learning something new, or following directions. We’ll even dig into vocabulary by exploring how words work–giving students strategies that they can use in all of their learning! Through discussion, games, and hands-on activities, Literacy Launchers helps readers blast off into richer, more thoughtful reading.

Brightening up our snowy day today with some fresh squeezed lemonade. Some of our friends are working on saying words with the /l/ sound. This was a meaningful way to incorporate their sound into therapy. They can now go home to tell their family all about making lemonade! 🍋
