💪 GLP1 EDUCATION: We don't just want WEIGHT loss. We want FAT loss.
This distinction is incredibly important.
When you lose a significant amount of weight, some of that weight can come from lean tissue.
That's why simply eating as little as possible is NOT the goal.
While you're losing weight, think about protecting your muscle too.
🥩 Prioritize protein
🏋️ Incorporate resistance training if you're able
🍽️ Eat enough to adequately nourish your body
😴 Get enough sleep and recovery
💧 Stay hydrated
And what about GLYCINE?
You may have noticed glycine being added to some compounded GLP1 formulations.
Glycine is an amino acid your body already uses for several important processes.
🧬 It is involved in protein and collagen production
💪 It is one of the amino acids your body uses to make creatine, which is important for muscle energy
🛡️ It is needed to produce glutathione, an important antioxidant
🦴 It contributes to collagen, which is important for connective tissue, skin, tendons, and bones
😴 Glycine has also been studied for its potential role in sleep quality
So why might glycine be an interesting addition during a GLP1 weight loss program?
When you're eating significantly less, we're paying close attention to nutrition, muscle, recovery, and overall body composition. Glycine can support normal biological processes involved in those areas.
But here's the important part:
Adding glycine doesn't replace eating enough protein or strength training, and it hasn't been proven to prevent GLP1 related muscle loss.
Think of it as another potential piece of the overall wellness picture, not a magic ingredient.
Why do I care so much about muscle?
Because muscle is important for strength, mobility, function, bone health, and long term metabolic health.
Your goal shouldn't simply be:
“How quickly can I make the number on the scale go down?”
A much better question is:
“How can I improve my body composition while becoming healthier and stronger?”
