Those tiny dark dots after your laser treatment? They’re called MENDs.

What Are MENDs?

MENDs (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) are tiny dots of treated skin that rise to the surface after fractional laser treatments such as MOXI, fractional CO2, and some RF microneedling procedures.

They are a normal part of the healing process and a sign that your body is shedding damaged skin and replacing it with healthier, refreshed skin.

What Do MENDs Look Like?

* Tiny dark specks or a “sandpaper” texture
* Bronzed or coffee-ground appearance
* Skin may feel rough to the touch
* Most noticeable 2–5 days after treatment

How Long Do They Last?

* Typically 3–7 days
* May last slightly longer depending on treatment intensity and skin type

Should You Pick Them?

No. Allow them to naturally exfoliate away. Picking can increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation issues, and delayed healing.

How to Care for Skin While MENDs Are Present

✔ Keep skin hydrated
✔ Use gentle cleansers
✔ Wear daily SPF 30+
✔ Follow your provider’s post-care instructions
✔ Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and scrubs until cleared
