As much as I love summer (♊️ gang👌🏽), these crisp fall mornings in the garden have been doing WONDERS for my nervous system. Between parenting a teenager, living in a home renovation, working full-time in a service-laden industry within a particularly interesting stakeholder culture………… and balancing many other plates all during this far-too-long Uranus retrograde, I’m trying to spend as much time as possible smelling the literal flowers in my surroundings.

When life is life’ing, the gardens remind me that there is a season for everything and this too shall pass.

I’m looking forward to hearing reflections from you and how Nature supports you on your tough days during the November 2026 Retreat 🫶🏽

“But I’m not grieving, so why should I come?” 🧐 Because we’re all grieving something. 💯 This retreat IS for YOU 🙏🏽🌻🤲🏽 Read why below 👇🏽

First and foremost, the Retreat is a nature-drenched getaway.

Who doesn’t need a break from the city from time to time?

Secondly, the theme of “healing grief and honoring gratitude with support from Mother Nature” was chosen in part to help people parse through thoughts and feelings that they may not know they are carrying and that they may not have the words to name.

As stated in the American Psychological Association’s Culturally Informed Trauma and Grief Recovery Toolkit:

“Some losses that can trigger grief are easily recognized by society and ourselves. These include things like death of a loved one, a break-up, or loss of a job. However, there are other losses that do not always fit into the norms of what our society may identify as worthy of grief. Examples of these kinds of losses include: miscarriages; a decline in health; separation of families through immigration; an adoption that doesn’t go through; infertility; loss of a loved one by su***de; living while a loved one is incarcerated; or a loss of cognitive functioning through things like dementia. […] These and other losses are called ‘unrecognized losses’” (bold added).

The retreat is designed to help women expand their self-care toolkits and to do so in community.

🫶🏽 I’m so overjoyed. 👇🏽

I slept in.

I harvested produce, albeit in the rain.

I pivoted when faced with the cancellation of Broad Street Farmers Market today due to the weather.

I shifted to an indoor pop-up market format at my home Church just down the street, Saint Philip Lutheran Church (Columbus, Ohio).

I spent time with my Church family.

I got to stay and support a Growing and Growth Collective event that was hosted at Saint Philip. 🌻

was a time!

It is beautiful to watch the leadership team expand. This is inherently allowing more people to share their gifts and for the co-founders to be more present and engaged during GGC experiences rather than always working.

I’m always wishing that my mom was physically here to participate as she always was, but this is my new journey ✨ Holding grief and gratitude at the same time. There is room for both.

Mahogany Manifesto (Est. 2020). Your wellness is our priority 🍉 updates 👇🏽

Over 1️⃣1️⃣3️⃣5️⃣ servings worth of produce has been donated to Broad Street Presbyterian Church’s food pantry from the plots that I manage (almost) single-handedly 🥳

I share these numbers not to be Braggadocious, but to remind us all of what we can accomplish when we take a step out, learn something new, and share our gifts with others.

In 2020 I became determined to learn how to grow my own food. I was thinking it would start and stop with my household, but my literal and figurative growth are proof that I believe that the sky’s the limit. By working together and focusing on regional solutions to wicked problems, we can make difference.
