So Kasai will be staying again tonight. We are hoping to get discharged in the morning after rounds! They are going to try a different medication tonight and see how he tolerates it. In place of the bacterium. They will also offically have respiratory cultures back tomorrow morning. We’re hoping we for sure go home tomorrow so he can be most comfortable. We’re just glad he’s doing better then he was. We will keep you all posted.

July 9th, They rounded a bit ago and we are waiting on a firm plan for today. But they think he just had a very aggressive case of tracheitis. Which isn’t fun. But they are trying to find a medication that will be best for him through his gtube instead of IV. We will discuss more in a bit and hopefully we can create a home going plan and possibly go home today. They knew were more then capable of treating from home and that he would be 100x more comfortable at home. So we’re hoping to go home tonight and reschedule his EEG for a different time. He is doing better today than he was yesterday! He’s well hydrated after the IV fluids and they decided to start his feeds back up his 9am care! Which is an amazing step for him and his recovery. He switched back to his home vent around 1am. He’s been doing very well, seems more comfortable. So we’re hopeful that we’re heading in the right direction and hope to bring him home today! We will keep you all posted! Thank you all for the messages and prayers!

July 8th, I was supposed to come on here and tell you guys Kasai was hooked up the EEG and ready for his 24hr stay🙂‍↕️. However you guys know Kasai LOVES to show out. As you know he has been taking antibiotics the last few days. We knew he wasn’t feeling good but were optimistic because we were treating for home. Unfortunately we don’t know if they’re working. He got up here and started desatting like crazy. It came to the point they decided to call an ACT on him (not even and hr into his 24hr admission). So now he is under ICU care and is getting all the tests, got an xray, got an IV and got switched to there hospital vent with more support and more monitoring. His heart rate has been elevated since 10:30 goin from 170-200. He doesn’t have a fever and he’s not to cold either. His Xray looked good except for some deep secretions which they are treating. Now we wait for labs and respiratory panels. He got a dose of motrin to try and calm him down however if his heart rate doesn’t come down by 12:15 they will be giving him a dose of fentanyl to see if it’s pain related. He’s NPO since he’s having respiratory issues and is on IV fluids. His glucose was a little low which they’re hoping the fluids help with as well. Right now it’s a waiting game. Thankfully we have an amazing team on right now! They are doing everything they can to help keep him comfortable as well as keep us from going crazy. Days like these take us back to the NICU when we didn’t know what to do and it’s personally giving me way to much anxiety. I hate seeing my baby so worked up and having no answers. I’m hoping we can figure this out. We will keep you all posted. As always thank you all for the continued love, support and prayers!

No More Crib💔

Daddy put his new bed together today! My mommy heart still sees my peanut that couldn’t leave an incubator! He was getting too long for his crib and getting up to the weight limit as well. We kept him in it as long as we could for our own comfort and just because he was used to playing with the bars. We also needed easier access to him (mainly mom,i’m to short and reaching over those bars became a challenge). Now he has a bigger bed to grow into until we talk about other bed options with his doctors as he gets bigger. We can’t believe how big he’s getting! Now he’s taking his first sleep (nap) in his bed🥹❤️

July 1st, We had to hook Kasai back up to his concentrator yesterday evening. He’s on 3 and half liters. He’s been very j***y the last few days. It was causing him to sat low or have desats. We tried extra albuterol, tried saline treatments and everything we could before having to call his Pulmonologist. After going over everything we all agreed that hes probably having a flare up with the heat and already having colonized infections. We decided to treat with meds we know have worked in the past. He’s going on an antibiotic (Bacterium),a nebulizer treatment (Tobramycin), and than if he doesn’t get better in 3-5 days they sent Ciproflaxin which is a broad spectrum antibiotic that treats many things including respiratory tract infections. He’ll be on the Bacterium & Tobramycin for 7-10 days. We’re hoping these help. We also follow up with his pulmonologist on a tele-health visit on the 16th. She was talking about possibly doing a month on month off treatment with the Tobramycin considering he is colonized with bacteria’s and is prone to flare ups. We’re hoping this helps get him back on track. Thank you all for the continued love, support & prayers!
