Let’s put words to anxiety and overwhelm. Finish this sentence in the comments:
“Anxiety, for me, feels like .”

Before you manage anxiety or worry it helps to look it and describe it. No fixing it or explaining it. Just an honest word or image that comes to mind. Sometimes naming the thing is the first step to loosen its grip.

Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

You don’t have to tidy yourself up before you come to Him. He draws near to the honest heart. I’ll go first in the comments — your turn.

In the 1967 Jungle Book movie, Kaa the snake tries to entice Mowgli into a deep trance by singing “Trust in Me”.
Eerie how that sounds like the enemy who stalks our thoughts.
That scene from the movie mimics real life. We are lured to trust in earthly possessions, bank and retirement accounts, and people who promise prosperity, fame, and enlightenment in some form or another.
When you have to face the truth of your fragile mortality, what will your soul want most? How might you live with more peace if you fed your soul now rather than later?

When has fear ever been a treasure?
Isaiah 33.6 says just that:
“Though the Lord is very great and lives in heaven, he will make Jerusalem his home of justice and righteousness. In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the Lord will be your treasure.”
In this case, fear is a deep reverence and awe of what the Lord prepares for you. It’s an all-consuming realization God is. Jesus said how much more for those who have not seen Him and believe.
In the meantime, you can step onto that sure foundation that is God and rest in your salvation as a promise as you struggle to make sense of this world. Ask and you will receive a small portion of wisdom and knowledge until the day you receive all He has to give.
