✨ A tongue-tie is often more complex than simply cutting a piece of tissue.

Many parents are told that a release will solve feeding challenges overnight. While a release can be an important part of treatment, it's often only one piece of the puzzle.

Feeding is a whole-body activity.

The tongue, jaw, neck, posture, breathing, and nervous system all work together. When babies develop tension patterns or movement restrictions, those patterns can impact how efficiently they feed and function.

This is why I often recommend support both before and after a tongue-tie release.

💛 Before a release, therapy can help:
• Reduce body tension
• Improve feeding mechanics
• Prepare the body for change

💛 After a release, therapy can help:
• Retrain movement patterns
• Improve tongue function
• Support more efficient feeding

When we support the whole baby—not just the tongue—we see the most gains.

💛 "Why Does My Baby Need Physical Therapy?"

The truth is, babies can benefit tremendously from early intervention. Physical therapy isn't just for injuries—it's about helping your little one move, grow, and develop with confidence.

Your baby may benefit from PT if you notice:
✨ A head preference or difficulty turning both directions
✨ Flat spots on the head
✨ Torticollis
✨ Delayed milestones like rolling, sitting, or crawling
✨ Tension in their body
✨ Feeding difficulties
✨ Trouble tolerating tummy time
✨ Concerns with balance, coordination, or strength

As a pediatric physical therapist, I take a gentle, holistic approach that looks at the whole child. Through hands-on treatment, play, movement, and parent education, we work together to support your baby's development and help them reach their full potential.

Most importantly—if something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. You know your baby best.

Early support can make a big difference. 💕

One of the most common things I hear from parents is, "I don't know if I should be concerned."

My answer? If you're wondering, it's worth asking.

Whether it's feeding difficulties, tummy time struggles, head shape concerns, body tension, or delayed milestones, early intervention can provide answers, support healthy development, and give you peace of mind.

You don't have to wait and see alone. ❤️

If you have concerns or a little voice in your head that something could be different -- reach out!

The "wait and see" approach doesn't get you anywhere 99% of the time. We really want to see you and your little one's doing well and feeling good.

DM is with any questions, and/or book a free 15-min consult.
