💜 Learning together to better support children and families.

Our founder, Mandy, recently led a workshop for teachers at KLA Academy: Recognizing Developmental Differences & Partnering With Families (Birth–5 Years).

Supporting young children is a team effort. When educators and families share perspectives, learn from one another, and work together, we can better understand each child’s unique developmental journey and identify ways to support their needs.

Thank you to KLA Academy for welcoming us and creating opportunities for continued learning and collaboration. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for the children and families we serve. 💜

We loved being part of this special World Mental Health Day celebration at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum Frost Art Museum — FIU at FIU! 💜

It was wonderful to see children’s artwork celebrated and to support an event highlighting the connection between creativity and children’s mental health.

We’re grateful to Center for Children and Families at FIU and Dr. Katie Hart for creating such a meaningful opportunity. We also appreciate FIU’s work supporting children and families through initiatives such as MINT FIU, Brave Bunch, and its Summer Treatment Program.

Art gives kids a way to express themselves, explore new ideas, and share a little piece of who they are. What a beautiful way to celebrate creativity and the importance of children’s mental health!

Why are our OTs handing children broken crayons? ✏️ It’s intentional!

Short crayons naturally encourage children to use their fingertips rather than wrapping their whole hand around the crayon. This supports development of a more mature grasp while strengthening the small muscles of the hand and building the finger isolation, control, and precision needed for future writing skills.

So that little broken crayon? It’s doing a lot of work. 💜

❄️ Winter Camp is back at Integrated Children’s Therapy! 💜

Our 2026–2027 Winter Camp is designed for children ages 3–9 to build communication, social, emotional, and sensory-motor skills through play, connection, and meaningful group experiences.

Through art, movement, storytelling, cooperative games, sensory play, and plenty of opportunities to connect with peers, children will practice skills that support confidence and participation in everyday life.

Morning work with our Little Learners! 💜

Every activity has a purpose. Cutting helps build the hand strength and coordination needed for classroom tasks. Matching and tracing support visual attention and early writing skills, while making circles helps little learners practice the movements they’ll use when forming letters. Even those broken crayons have a job—they encourage a stronger grasp and better control.

All the little moments of practice add up to big steps in learning. ✂️🖍️

Pull out your board games this weekend, parents!

Board games are sneaky little learning machines. They give kids opportunities to build skills without making it feel like work.

Some of the biggest benefits:

💜 Communication: asking questions, explaining ideas, listening and responding
💜 Collaboration: working together, sharing, negotiating, and solving problems
💜 Flexibility: handling changes, unexpected moves, and different outcomes
💜 Patience & turn-taking: waiting, watching, and giving others space
💜 Problem-solving: thinking ahead, making choices, and adapting strategies
💜 Social connection: practicing how to engage, connect, and have fun with others
💜 Regulation: navigating excitement, disappointment, anticipation, and frustration
💜 Attention & executive functioning: remembering rules, following sequences, planning, and staying engaged
💜 Joyful learning: perhaps the biggest one: kids get to practice all of this while simply playing together.

All things animal in Little Learners! 🐰🐟🦓🦁

Our animal-themed activities gave our littles lots of ways to work on important skills: fine motor skills through tearing and cutting paper, sensory exploration with glue and paint, following directions, building vocabulary, and taking turns while sharing materials with friends.

These activities help build fine motor strength, hand-eye coordination, language, collaboration, and the skills needed for growing independence.

And, of course, our littles made some pretty adorable animals along the way. 💜
