Good to know! What is the difference between the two?

Early Action (EA) and Early Decision (ED) can sound similar, but they're not the same β€” and confusing the two could seriously affect your college application strategy.

Here's the difference:

πŸ“Œ Early Action (EA)
β†’ Non-binding. You apply early and hear back early, but you don't have to commit.
β†’ You can compare financial aid offers from multiple schools.
β†’ You have until May 1 to make your final decision.
β†’ Best for: students who want flexibility while still getting ahead.

πŸ“Œ Early Decision (ED)
β†’ Binding. If you're accepted, you must enroll and withdraw all other applications.
β†’ You won't be able to compare offers from other schools.
β†’ On average, ED applicants see higher acceptance rates β€” because applying ED signals you're 100% committed to that school.
β†’ Best for: students who have a clear #1 choice and zero doubt about it.

πŸ“… Deadlines for both typically fall between Nov. 1–15, depending on the school. Some schools also offer a second EA deadline β€” check early.

The bottom line: if you're still weighing your options, go EA. If you've found your school, ED might give you a competitive edge.

Test anxiety? Stress during tests?

I am currently working today on a new student resource that puts the MINDFUL back into prep in a more concrete way.

If your student has had test anxiety or struggled to break down what happened after an ACT test, comment β€œANXIETY” below and I will send you the booklet.

It will be completed tomorrow and sent.

Two things I say to help my students combat anxiety or stress through the prep process:

1) Be coachable to be able to learn from mistakes.

2) Progress is the goal, not perfection. You do not have to get every question right. You are allowed to miss questions. Focus on using #1 (being coachable and learning from mistakes) so that you can make PROGRESS. πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸŽ―

This is valuable for application season!

Always demonstrate who the STUDENT is and their contributions to the activity, club, etc.
Rememberβ€” sell the student.
