That was one of Heather’s first reactions when a friend told her about respite care. More than 10 years later, respite has become so much more for the Robinson family.

It’s time to recharge. It’s having someone they trust. And for Kai, it’s another special person in his life who gives him space to engage and grow. Thank you to the Robinson family for sharing their experience with respite care.

Communication isn’t always spoken.

For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, understanding how someone communicates can make a meaningful difference in their care.
Deaf Awareness Month gives us an opportunity to recognize that some individuals may communicate through ASL, gestures, visual cues, assistive technology, or other methods that work for them.

For caregivers and Respite Care Providers, taking the time to learn those cues is part of getting to know the person behind the care. 💙
