Hey Friends! With October quickly approaching... it’s a great reminder to get your mammogram!!!
It doesn’t matter if you’re 30 or 80.... get one!!!! This October is a HUGE-mungous milestone for me, well this has been a huge year for me period!! Turning 40, becoming a 5-year cancer get-out-aliver... it’s been a pretty amazing and tough year to say the least! No one ever tells you the real healing and surviving happens AFTER you complete treatment and are sent out into this world!
You change.... every aspect of your life changes. You lose your identity, your body is scarred, your insides are raw, your friends stop visiting, the safety of the doctor’s office is gone. You are scared of everything! And although they keep telling you, “you are free! Go live your life!” We are never free, our minds will never forget what happened to us and this disease will be a part of us forever! And although that may seem sad... like most things in life, there is good in this tragedy too!
Strangers have become soul mates and I’m actually able to really live my life and be grateful, but most importantly cancer gave me back who I always wanted to be! A giver, a lover, a loyal friend, a great listener, a “perfect in my kids’ eyes” mom, a gracious wife and partner.... a good human ❤️ It opened my eyes to this beautiful world we have in front of us that is so sadly portrayed evil every day. It showed me the good in people, their selflessness and it made me want to be like them! Along with modern medicine 😏 I became this survivor by always holding onto the love and support around me, everyday taking a deep breath of good old Mother Nature, singing and dancing and feeling music... letting my worries slip into memories! Oh, and a s**t ton of therapy 🤣
So, this October I celebrate everyone who has lived through something tough... all of us have!, and came out on the other side standing and smiling at what is to come 💕
In celebration of my 5 year survivorship, my friends and family came together and made me feel like a real princess 👑 I am forever grateful to women who support women when they are at their lowest. It is so humbling and vulnerable to share your secrets and fears and flaws with someone. And in return feel relief instead of rejection, acceptance instead of judgment. So, take this October to tell someone they are doing awesome at life ❤️ and GET YOUR MAMMOGRAM!!!!!
