For a long time I thought I was just a really empathetic person.
I could feel everyone in the room. I knew who was off before they said a word. I adjusted myself constantly to keep things smooth and comfortable and easy for everyone around me.
I thought that was a strength. It took me a long time to realize it was also a pattern. One I learned early.
I carried that pattern into every relationship, every room, every conversation I walked into as an adult.
Scanning before I spoke.
Editing before I shared.
Shrinking before anyone asked me to.
Here’s what that pattern was costing me.
My signal.
When your nervous system is running a constant background program of scanning and adjusting and managing and smoothing, your intuition cannot get through.
The guidance Spirit is trying to send you has nowhere to land. Because every bit of your awareness is pointed outward.
Other people’s emotions are not your emergency.
‼️ Their discomfort is not yours to fix.
‼️ Their mood is not yours to carry.
‼️ Their reaction is not something you need to prevent by making yourself smaller.
You are allowed to say the true thing. You are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to exist without editing yourself into a version that’s easier for everyone else to be around.
That’s not selfish.
That’s what coming back to yourself actually looks like. And when you stop managing everyone else, something shifts.
You start hearing yourself again.
The intuitive hits get clearer.
The connection gets stronger.
The guidance you’ve been waiting on finally has somewhere to land.
This week when you catch yourself adjusting or shrinking or smoothing something over that was never yours to carry, pause.
I am not responsible for managing other people’s emotions. My energy belongs to me.
Come back to yourself first. Your connection to Spirit is waiting right there.
