UPDATE: please share. I’ve been working with Sarah, the coordinator for the Miles for Smiles Event. She created a custom code for my people to use. Now you can go right on the website, register and get in for free. We have 25-14 and over tickets and 25-13 and under tickets waiting for anyone who needs them. If those sell out, we will consider donating more. In the mean time, please share this with friends and family and anyone who could benefit from gathering at the run.

I didn’t expect this to touch so many hearts, I am so glad it did. This is how change happens.

Something is happening in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Su***de. Kids. There have been 2 in the past month.

When I went to high school in Elk River we had the same thing happening. It was an awful experience then as a 16 and 18 year old and it’s an awful experience as an adult. Several of my class mates took their lives. There weren’t a lot of resources then. Counselors were in the schools and always there if we wanted to talk. Most of us never went. We didn’t know what we needed. It was so confusing and it still is.

There is a walk coming up in Baxter on 7/30/26 that smiles for Jake is putting on. It’s an opportunity for the community to gather around eachother and talk about those they’ve lost.

The cost for a child 13 and under is $13.50. I want to buy tickets for 4 kids in this age group to be able to attend. If you or someone you know would like the tickets, please just message me.
