World Su***de Prevention Day 💜💚❤️
People stay quiet because they don’t feel safe.
Clinicians may stay quiet because they don’t feel confident.
The result? Suicidal thoughts can go undetected, and lives can hang in the balance.
Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, we commit to breaking the silence and closing that gap.
Patients deserve spaces that feel safe enough for honesty. Clinicians and other helpers deserve education and training that builds the confidence to ask the question, hear the answer, and know what to do next.
And we must acknowledge that the silence can be especially complicated in Black communities. Cultural stigma, historical mistrust of healthcare systems, barriers to care, and the underrepresentation of Black mental health professionals can make already-difficult conversations even harder.
That’s why organizations like DA-TRI, The Steve Fund, Therapy for Black Girls, and BEAM (Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective) are working to make mental health conversations more accessible, culturally responsive, and human.
🟡 A conversation can save a life. 🫶🏾
