The way we talk to our kids becomes the way they talk to themselves. When we label them, they might start believing it. So, we need to ask ourselves: who do we want them to become? How do we want them to feel about themselves?

For example, saying things like, 'All you do is stare at your phone,' or 'You never listen,' can make them feel stuck in those habits.

Instead, we can focus on what they’re doing right. We could say, 'I love watching you color; your drawings are so creative,' or 'Thanks for helping me carry the groceries; that was so kind of you.'

When we notice the good things and talk about them, we help our kids feel proud of themselves and build their confidence.

So much happens during PLAY

What do you see when a child is at play? Running, building, creating, pretending—these are the moments that catch our eye. But just beneath the surface, something much deeper is happening.

Play is where children develop adaptability, confidence, and problem-solving skills. It’s where they learn to navigate risk, build friendships, and trust their own ideas. It’s where their brains and bodies work together, shaping the skills they’ll carry for life.

The next time you watch a child play, remember—what’s visible is just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much happening underneath!
