We live in a world where things shift very quickly, there’s always something new, always another thing to be done, always another milestone to attain.
It’s a very busy world, with so much going on, all at once. Our minds are constantly racing, from one thing to the next, and then the next, it never ends.
However, In whatever sphere of life you find yourself in, It’s very important to intentionally make out time to just pause, go somewhere different to rest, refill, think and strategize.
We can get soaked in too deep with every other thing, that we don’t remember to take care of ourselves. Taking out time to just sit with yourself, give the mind and body space to rest and reset, is not a Luxury, it is a necessity.
This allows you to grow in ways you never thought possible. Your creativity awakens. Your thoughts become clearer. You’d be surprised the ideas you’re able to get when you choose to step back, from all the noise.
And as ministers of God, this becomes even more critical. Allowing yourself to be still, to rest in God, to fellowship deeply with Him, and to receive counsel from Him is not optional, it is foundational.
In fact, it is imperative.
It’s so easy to just be everywhere, constantly active and involved in everything.
And yes, being about your Father’s business is important. But neglecting the body that sustains that work, or failing to retreat to the One who sent you, is a quiet form of imbalance.
Being still is not a sign of inactivity, sometimes, it is a posture of alignment.
Even Jesus withdrew.
With God especially, there are moments where you must intentionally shut out every distraction and be still. Because it is in that stillness that His voice becomes clear, and His direction becomes undeniable (1 Kings 19:13).
Most times, The next big thing is birth from the place of silence. When you get to sit with yourself, breathe, refresh, think, plan and execute.
Don’t wait till you’re completely burnt out before you come to this realization.
Make time for yourself this month.
And to every minister of the Gospel,
make time to retreat.
Just go spend time with God, somewhere away from your normal routine.
You never come back the same.
