Sometimes addiction becomes part of a story no one ever imagined they would live.
And sometimes, recovery becomes the part of the story they never thought was possible.

That’s why we believe every story matters.

Recovery is more than overcoming a challenge, it’s about having the support, stability, and safe environment needed to keep moving forward.

At Addie Kay’s Serenity, we believe no one should have to walk the road to recovery alone. We provide a safe, structured, recovery-focused environment where men can rebuild, reconnect, and take meaningful steps toward a brighter future.

Treatment is focused on addressing substance use and other clinical or mental health needs.

Sober living is about having a safe, substance-free place to live while you begin putting your recovery into practice in everyday life.

That can look like getting up and going to work. Paying your bills. Following house expectations. Working through disagreements instead of walking away. Taking responsibility when you make a mistake. Learning how to live alongside others again. Building healthy routines. Keeping your commitments. And, little by little, becoming more independent and responsible for your own life.

Sober living doesn’t replace therapy, counselling, IOP, meetings, or other recovery supports a person may need.

It provides the stable environment where real life continues while you rebuild.

At Addie Kay's Serenity, we’re not trying to be something we’re not. We’re a peer-based recovery residence built around structure, accountability, community, and stability, giving everyone a safe place to keep moving forward.

Because getting sober is one thing.

Learning how to build a life you don’t feel the need to escape from is another.

When Expecting the Worst Becomes a Habit

“They didn’t text back… they must be upset with me.”
“Their tone feels different… I must have done something wrong.”
“Something good is happening… something bad must be coming.”

“One thing went wrong… everything is falling apart.”

When you’ve experienced enough hurt, disappointment, rejection, or chaos, your mind can start expecting the worst as a way to protect you.

But constantly preparing for something bad doesn’t protect your peace—it can keep you trapped in fear of things that haven’t even happened.

Recovery teaches us to pause.
To separate what we know from what we fear.
To challenge the thoughts that tell us every unknown must have a negative ending.

Not every silence means rejection.
Not every change means disaster.
Not every setback means you’re going backward.
And not every unknown has a bad ending.

You don’t have to figure out the ending when God is still writing the story.

Take a breath. Stay present. Give yourself permission to believe that something good can happen, too. 💙

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” — Psalm 56:3

At Addie Kay’s Serenity, we believe recovery is not just about changing your circumstances; it’s also about learning to find peace, hope, and trust one day at a time.
