Sometimes circumstances arise during pregnancy that lead to a necessary change in birth plans. Although it can be frustrating, a change in plans doesn't have to equate to a total loss of your ideal birth.
This amazing mama needed baby to come sooner than later. She was able to work with her body and stay as close to her birth plan as possible by using a Foley bulb instead of an alternative pharmaceutical option.
Thankfully her body responded beautifully and with the help of her doula and wonderful husband she rocked her completely unmedicated birth just the way she wanted.

Career Day! I got to talk to my boys’ 4th grade class & 1st grade class all about the role of a Doula and showed them what’s in my Doula bag, a breathing technique, & how I use different comfort measures to help my clients.

And I got to dispel a common misconception about my job. I support clients giving birth in hospitals, birth centers, and homes… unmedicated, medicated, and cesarean births. All births, all locations, and all types of clients! 🥰 Everyone deserves to have support throughout their entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.

Other side of the smiles…. We miss our own/ our kids’ special life events to be there for our clients most special day! We disappoint loved ones, cancel plans last minute, and skip holidays in order to prioritize our passion… supporting our clients in the most exciting and joyful day of becoming a family.

I freaking love my job! It’s the hardest and it’s the best. But it also comes at a price. When you hire a , you’re not only hiring someone to support you for your labor and birth, you’re hiring someone who’s willing to be on call 24/7 no matter what for you! Today just happens to be one of those days of back to back births while missing a special family moment kind of day… I just wanted to share the raw truth while I feel exhausted and happy and sad all at once. ❤️Jen
