Happy Daughter’s Day! The best birthday present Lily could have given me for my 50th was singing “My Firefly” with me! Grateful for the gift of being her mom!

“Beautiful You” by Tom Prasada-Rao
I’m watching TPR’s celebration of life. He never recorded it on an album, he said it was the song that he kept writing over and over again. This song has comforted me in some of the most difficult times, I just wanted to share it today. 💙

This is happening tonight! All the finalists are great, one of my favorite singer-songwriters, Dan Weber, will be singing and that’s always a blast, along with some new talented friends with great songs! It will be a good show no matter who “wins”, come on out to watch, it will be better than whatever you’re watching on Netflix!

This pic is the first time I played at Poor David’s pub, I was terrified! But I kept performing anyway. My original goal I was to kick stage fright’s butt before I turned 40. Here I am 9 years later competing in a contest after I said I would never do that! Never say NEVER!
This Wednesday night 6/5 at 8:00, I’ll be playing a couple songs at Poor David’s Pub in the B. W. Stevenson singer-songwriter competition.
I’m a semi-finalist in my first songwriting contest…if you know me, you know I have been pretty adamant about not entering contests bc I have a lot of opinions about how comparison and competition steal joy and can stifle creativity. However, I’m trying to approach it as research/ or a personal mental health experiment since I am facilitating a day long songwriter retreat focusing on mental wellness for songwriters in Montana in two weeks at the Red Lodge Songwriters Festival. At least I’ll be able to speak about the contest process from experience.

Dan Weber is a finalist too! It’s gonna be strange competing with the pro! Come on out and cheer us on! There will be also be a bunch of other talented songwriters and a $7.00 cover.
