How many times before you realized? 🥲

In women with Stage III-IV endometriosis the rates of endometriosis being in the appendix can pass 35%.

Also, 90% of people with endometriosis have gastrointestinal symptoms.

But painful periods show up in about 40-60% yet people think it’s “just a bad period” 😑

Who else had their appendix removed during their surgery?! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Trust your gut, don’t stop at answers that make it seem like things are in your head.

I could be wrong but…

Even as a practitioner who leans very heavy into manual therapy, I am all for virtual physical therapists, even if they’re pelvic floor therapists.

Sure, there is an absolute endless amount of things you can do with patients in person. There is more information you can collect. However, if you are unable to collect that information are you unable to create a plan of care that could improve this patient’s quality of life?

There are a lot of things worth getting your panties in a twist about and I really don’t think virtual therapy should be one of them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have your opinions, but I wouldn’t discourage patients from receiving that care if it is the most accessible option to them.

If you don’t agree, I’m happy to have a convo in the comments, I’m a curious person and always open to expanding my opinions 😌

What are we to do 🥲

I’m pelvic floor therapy, understanding how to calm your nervous system is SO important.

If you don’t know what the vagus nerve is, this is your sign to GOOGLE it now. More to come on that in a different post.

For all the parents out there trying to find a moment when none exist, I feel you 🥹

Just a foam roller for the V ✌🏼

Seriously though - pull up an anatomy book and you’ll see the deep layers of muscles in the pelvis 📖

Specifically the obturator internus is relatively easy to access with a pelvic wand. In the clinic we pre-test strength and range of motion, perform trigger point release to obturator internus, the re-test. If there is remarkable improvement we know a patient is a candidate for the wand.

We also take it a step further to consider how general self-care and management to our muscles (even in a warm cozy place) can help with stiffness.

Anyway, I love the intimate rose wands because they’re silk and ergonomic.

Like writing last year in the new year 😵‍💫

In case you missed the memo, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is now called Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS).

Now excuse me while I go rewrite my brain as we adopt this new terminology that will reduce misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis in millions of women ✌🏼

The best exercise is the one you actually do 😌

Seriously though - this is your reminder to just SHOW UP.

Move your body, it doesn’t have to be perfect. If you challenge your muscles, you will produce myokines which are antiinflammatory.

Your pelvic floor is only as strong as the rest of your body 💪🏼

Just move 😍
