I thought I was helping Zoey learn.

Then she pointed to the letters and spelled:

EMOTIONS

In that moment, I realized something:

The lesson wasn't for her.

It was for me.

Our kids understand more than we often realize.

Talk to them.

Teach them.

Include them.

Assume competence.

After a rough night of meltdowns, I found myself wondering how my daughter will manage when I'm no longer here.

That sent me down a rabbit hole that started with discovering supported living can cost around $8,000 a month, led to researching funding options, and eventually landed me in the world of Medicaid waivers.

The result? A resource list I'm sharing in case it helps another family.

Not affiliated with any of these programs. Just a special needs parent worrying about the future, trying to be prepared, and hoping this helps someone else. ❤️. I do not know much beyond what I have posted.
