In perimenopause and menopause, shifting estrogen and progesterone levels directly impact sleep, stress tolerance, cognitive clarity, and energy regulation.

This is why so many women in midlife feel like their productivity has changed overnight.

It hasn’t. Their biology has.

This is where most advice fails women over 40:
It ignores the role of hormones, cortisol regulation, sleep disruption, metabolic health, and nervous system load in sustained output.

So no, you are not lazy.
And no, you are not undisciplined.

You are dysregulated.

In midlife, rest is not optional.

It is what allows your hormones, nervous system, and metabolism to function optimally.

This clip is from my full interview for the SHEald documentary, where I share the journey that led me from a career in technology to becoming a women’s health researcher, nutritionist, and functional medicine practitioner.

What many people don’t know is that none of this was part of the plan.

It started when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune digestive disease and asked a physician a simple question:
“Could changing my diet change the trajectory of this condition?”

He laughed.

That moment changed the course of my life.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve dedicated my work to understanding the root causes of chronic illness, advancing women’s health research, and helping women find answers that too often get overlooked.

If there’s one thing I hope women take away from my story, it’s this: never stop asking questions. You know your body better than anyone else, and you deserve healthcare that treats you as a partner in the process.

If you’ve been blaming yourself for a lower s*x drive, this is your reminder that desire is biology, not willpower.

During perimenopause and menopause, multiple systems that influence libido begin to shift at the same time, from hormones to neurotransmitters to your body’s stress response. And if you’re constantly overwhelmed, your nervous system may be working against you without you even realizing it.

The good news? You’re not broken, and this isn’t something you just have to accept.

Midlife is the time a woman’s entire inner architecture shifts as her identity, nervous system, and priorities evolve.

It’s the stage where a lifetime of pleasing, performing, and over-functioning catches up with you.

Where old patterns stop working.
Where your body and mind start demanding truth, boundaries, and alignment.

That’s why midlife women need affirmations differently than they did at 25.

Not as fluff… but as cognitive tools that:
• interrupt decades of self-sacrifice
• retrain a nervous system wired for approval
• rebuild self-worth without external validation
• anchor you into internal authority, not expectations
• support the psychological “second adulthood” that begins in your 40s and 50s
• help you redefine your identity, values, and voice

These 9 affirmations are designed specifically for women in midlife.

Repeat them out loud daily.

For decades, women were told PCOS was primarily an ovarian condition.

Now, the medical community is officially acknowledging what many researchers have been saying for years: it’s much bigger than that.

This landmark change could impact how millions of women understand their symptoms, advocate for testing, and approach their long-term health.

If you’ve ever been told you have PCOS or suspect you might—this is information you need to know.

Have you heard about the name change yet?

As estrogen declines, women naturally lose muscle mass, energy efficiency, and even cognitive resilience. Which is why so many women suddenly feel weaker, foggier, and more exhausted in midlife even when they’re “doing everything right.”

Creatine helps support:
• muscle strength + retention
• cellular energy production
• hydration inside the muscle
• cognitive function + brain health

And the research behind it is actually incredibly strong.

The most studied form is creatine monohydrate and for many women, just 5g a day consistently can make a massive difference over time.

Follow for evidence-based strategies that actually support women in midlife.

Most confidence advice gets the biology wrong.

You’re told to feel ready before you act… but readiness is a physiological state, not a prerequisite.

Your nervous system learns through experience.

Action creates evidence. ➡️ Evidence creates safety. ➡️ Safety creates confidence.

This is why staying still keeps you stuck. Your brain has nothing new to work with.

If you’re waiting for the moment you “feel confident enough,” you may never move at all.

So go do that thing you’re avoiding. Let your biology catch up.

Only 4% of medical research funding goes to women’s health… even though women make up 50% of the population.

For decades, women’s symptoms were dismissed, misdiagnosed, or labeled as “just stress” because so much of modern medicine was built around male bodies as the default.
The medications. The reference ranges. The research. The diagnostic standards.
And the scariest part? Most women have no idea.

This isn’t about blaming individual doctors. It’s about recognizing a system that was never fully designed with women in mind and learning how to advocate for yourself inside of it.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed, unheard, or told “everything looks normal” when you knew something was wrong… you are not imagining it.

Follow for more of the health information women should have had all along.

The term “wandering womb” was once an actual medical diagnosis. Doctors believed a woman’s uterus could literally move through her body and cause illness, and that belief shaped women’s healthcare for generations.

Women were dismissed, institutionalized, and subjected to invasive procedures simply for being seen as “too emotional” or “difficult.” And it wasn’t until 1993 that women were even required to be included in U.S. clinical research studies.

So if you’ve ever been told your labs are “normal” while something still feels off in your body, you’re not imagining it. You’re navigating a medical system that was never originally designed around female physiology.

Understanding this history is the first step to advocating for your health differently.

Your metabolism is not just about how hard you work out… it’s also about what you do in the moments after you eat.

One of the simplest things you can do to support blood sugar balance, insulin sensitivity, and fat burning is go for a short walk after meals, especially dinner.
When you move, your muscles help pull glucose out of the bloodstream and use it for energy instead of letting it sit and spike. And the best part? You do not need an intense workout to see benefits.

A comfortable 10–15 minute walk at a consistent pace can make a huge difference over time. No sweating. No running. Just movement.
