TUF Bodies

TUF Bodies Personal trainer since 2007, helping women thrive through menopause. Strength, balance & flexibility focused. TUF Bodies. Strong at every stage. Stronger bodies.

Certified in personal training, nutrition coaching, yoga & assisted stretching. Hi, I’m Shayla Ryder, owner of TUF Bodies, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’ve been a personal trainer since 2007, specializing in strength training, nutrition coaching, remote coaching, and assisted stretching, working primarily with women navigating the menopause phase of life. My passion for health began long before T

UF. In the late ’90s, I started learning how the body truly works, not just for weight loss, but for long-term health, strength, and independence. I saw firsthand that dieting alone doesn’t work, and exercise alone doesn’t work. But when you combine smart movement, proper nutrition, and consistency, lives change. That belief became deeply personal after losing my grandfather. Watching his health decline from inactivity showed me how powerful and fragile our bodies can be. I couldn’t change his journey, but it fueled my purpose to help others take control of theirs. In 2007, I turned that purpose into a career, becoming a certified personal trainer and later expanding my education to include nutrition coaching, yoga, and assisted stretching. In 2008, I opened Transform U Fitness (TUF), now known as TUF Bodies, a community built on strength, support, and real-life results. Today, my mission is simple: help women feel strong, capable, and confident in their bodies, especially during menopause, when the rules change and support matters more than ever. This isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about building strength, balance, and habits that support you now and for years to come. You don’t have to do this alone. I’m here to guide you every step of the way. Better lives. Welcome to TUF.

Apparently taking care of yourself is kinda chic now. 😉

Meal prepping. Lifting weights. Drinking your water. Making yourself a priority.

We’ve been doing that around here for a while. 💪

Trends come and go, but being strong, healthy and TUF never goes out of style.

Who’s being TUF with me this week?

Who says eating toward your goals has to mean boring breakfasts?

This Pancake Sundae has protein pancakes piled with Greek yogurt, fresh fruit and just enough of your favorite toppings to make it feel like a treat.

Because you don’t have to take the fun out of food, you just learn how to build it differently. 💪

Save this one for your next Sundae Sunday!

I LOVE MY KIDS… BUT WHO ELSE IS READY FOR A ROUTINE AGAIN?! 😂🙋‍♀️

For a lot of us, this is the last weekend before the back-to-school craziness begins.

Summer has been fun, but let’s be honest…

What day is it?
Why is someone ALWAYS hungry?
Why are we going to bed so late?
And what even happened to our normal routine?! 😜

As the kids start heading back to school, it’s a chance for US to reset too.

Get those workouts back on the calendar. 💪
Stock the fridge.
Drink your water.
Get back to your normal bedtime.
And start making yourself a priority again.

Enjoy the weekend!

Then when YOUR back-to-school day arrives…

IT’S GAME ON. 🔥

Who else is ready to get back into a routine?! 👇

One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to eat healthier is thinking their favorite foods have to go.

They don’t!

Build your pizza:
🍕 Choose your crust
💪 Add a good source of protein
🫑 Load it up with veggies
🧀 Add your cheese
😋 And ENJOY IT!

🔥 Bake at 400–425°F for about 8–12 minutes, or until the crust is crispy and the cheese is melted. Cooking times will vary depending on your crust, so check the package directions. Make sure any chicken, beef or other proteins are cooked before adding them.

Healthy eating should work in your REAL life—including Pizza Friday!

You can lose weight and still…
❌ Lose muscle instead of body fat.
❌ Feel tired and run down.
❌ Be hungry all the time.
❌ Miss out on the progress that actually matters.

Instead of asking…

“How much weight did I lose?”

Start asking…

✔️ Am I getting stronger?
✔️ Do I have more energy?
✔️ Am I building healthier habits?
✔️ Am I losing body fat?
✔️ Do I feel better?

Those are the changes that lead to lasting results.

At TUF Bodies, my goal isn’t to help you simply weigh less—it’s to help you become stronger, healthier, and more confident for the long term.

💜 Tell me in the comments… what’s one non-scale victory you’ve experienced? It could be lifting heavier, having more energy, sleeping better, your clothes fitting differently, or simply feeling better.

I’d love to celebrate it with you! 💪

Happy Wednesday! 💪

You’re halfway through the week.

If Monday didn’t go as planned… you still have time.
If you’ve been crushing it… keep the momentum going.

Remember, progress isn’t made by being perfect. It’s made by showing up, even when you don’t feel like it.

One workout.
One healthy meal.
One walk.
One good choice.

Those little wins add up.

Finish this week stronger than you started it. You’ve got this. 👊

Ever notice that some restaurant menus have a “Lighter Choices” section?

Now imagine those meals are around 650 calories.

If that’s the lighter side… what do you think the rest of the menu looks like? 🤔

It really puts things into perspective.

This isn’t about saying you shouldn’t eat out. I love going to restaurants too.

It’s just a reminder that restaurant meals often contain a lot more calories than we think because of larger portions, cooking oils, sauces, butter, and all the little extras.

The good news? You don’t have to stop eating out to reach your goals. A little awareness goes a long way.

👇 Your challenge:
Look up the meal you usually order at one of your favorite restaurants, then come back and comment with:
🍽️ Restaurant
🥘 Meal
🔥 Calories

I’m curious… which meal surprised you the most?

One of the biggest myths in fitness is that planning and tracking your food is restrictive.

I actually believe it’s the opposite.

When you don’t have a plan, you’re constantly asking yourself:
• What should I eat?
• Did I eat too much?
• Should I skip dinner now?
• Why aren’t I seeing results?

Having a plan takes away that daily guesswork.

You know what works.
You know what fits your goals.
And you still have room to enjoy life.

Tracking isn’t about obsessing over every bite.
It’s about learning, building awareness, and making intentional choices that move you toward your goals.

The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is progress.

If you’ve been struggling to figure out what to eat or feel like nutrition is the missing piece, send me a message. I’d love to help you create a food plan that works for your lifestyle. 💜

Some of the best exercises aren’t the flashiest.

As we get older, our workouts should do more than just burn calories. They should help us build strength, improve stability, and make everyday movements easier.

That’s why I love this banded bear extension. It challenges your core, shoulders, quads, and coordination all in one exercise. More importantly, it teaches your body to move better.

The goal isn’t just to look strong…

It’s to stay strong.

Try it out and let me know what you think :-)

NEW MONTH. OLD SHIRT. SAME MISSION. 💪

This picture takes me way back.

One of my very first clients, Janet Bradley, wearing one of the very first T-shirts I ever had made.

A lot has changed since then.

• The website is gone...these days, social media is where you'll find me.
• The gym has had a few different front doors over the years.
• The workouts have evolved as both my clients and I have grown (I have heard I am nicer, LOL!)
• And I've learned more than I ever imagined over the last 19 years.

But one thing has never changed...

My mission is still the same: helping people become stronger, healthier, and more confident.

A new month is a reminder that you don't have to be perfect. You just have to keep showing up.

Whether you're starting for the first time, starting over, or building on the progress you've already made, August is a fresh opportunity.

Let's make it count.

Drop a 🔥 in the comments if you're committing to yourself this August.
