I will never forget something a teacher once told me:
Getting caught in the rain is only bad until you’re actually in it.
And I think about that more often than I expected to.
Because it is not just true about rain. It is true about life.
Sometimes the hardest part of anything is the moment before we are fully in it. The anticipation. The resistance. The discomfort of knowing something is changing, but not yet knowing how we will hold it.
And then, somehow, we acclimate.
We realize, I am surviving this.
And not only am I surviving it, I am learning. I am adjusting. I am becoming more capable than I was before.
The thing I feared might overwhelm me becomes something I am moving through.
Not easily, maybe.
Not without discomfort.
But still moving.
And maybe that is part of the gift hidden inside certain seasons. They do not always come to ruin us. Sometimes they come to show us that we can stand in more than we thought.
Sometimes the rain is still rain.
But once we’re in it, we learn we are not as fragile as we feared.
And maybe that makes a little rain worth it.
