Well I haven't a very good job updating lately! Tomorrow is our 6 week mark and cast removal day!!! We were supposed to get the cast off next Wednesday but I contacted our dr on Friday and explained that despite our best efforts (layers of diapers), we have had some bad leaks and Marlee's cast just stinks😬. I asked if there was any way we could get it off this week. I knew it wasn't the best reason and we would certainly make do if we had to wait another week but his nurse told us to come in tomorrow. Dr. Richards originally told us 6-8 weeks so when our appointment was scheduled for 7,I just assumed that he went in the middle. But the hospital made the appointment and not his personal nurse so he is fine with the cast coming off tomorrow! Yay!!!!!
We can not wait to see Marlee's little legs and squeeze her actual body instead of a giant cast! And of course, there will be a big bubble bath in her future tomorrow night!! This was such an answered prayer because last week Chris and I were just feeling weary with the cast. Marlee has adjusted very well and can actually get around pretty fast in the cast. But she is heavy and still wants to be carried and held a lot, which can be exhausting sometimes. We certainly could've waited another week but we are sooooo thankful that we don't have to!
Marlee doesn't seem as excited about the cast removal. I am wondering if she just remembers that the cast cutter is very loud and shook her body or if she's nervous about trying to move and walk again. Either way, tomorrow at 1:00 - it's coming off!
We have again just been blown away by the kindness and generosity of friends, neighbor's and family during this recovery time. Meals and gifts and rides and play dates for the big girls have been provided and we are truly grateful for this little village we have to support us. Most of all, we are thankful for our lord who just always comes through with everything we need and gives us strength and joy even on our weariest days. One of our favorite family verses over the past few years has been this one and it is always a good reminder of what the lord has already done and still plans for our family. So blessed and thankful
