NATA Secondary School Athletic Trainer Committee Recognizing the unique concerns & responsibilities of the secondary school AT.

Composition

This district-based committee is comprised of members from the secondary school setting. Strategic Goals

Increase the availability of athletic training services for all secondary school student-athletes
Empower SS ATs to quantify and articulate their value within the secondary school community
Increase public awareness of key issues affecting the safety of interscholastic and youth a

thletics
Encourage SSATs to evaluate their role in the advancement of athletic safety legislation
Provide resources and educational opportunities for secondary school athletic trainers
Promote and encourage the secondary school setting as a viable career destination

National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) recently released, Preventing Exertional Heat Stroke in High School Football Lineman. Nearly all EHS fatalities occur during sustained, high‑intensity conditioning sessions in the first week of practice, and 97% involve linemen—athletes who heat up faster, cool down more slowly.
