Our first Loom After Lunch:
Why Your Body Doesn’t Listen to You
Ever feel like your body is ignoring you—tight when you want to relax, exhausted when you need energy, or in pain despite your best efforts to “fix” it? This workshop challenges a common assumption: that the body should obey commands like a machine.
In reality, the body doesn’t respond to force, demands, or willpower. It responds to signals of safety, balance, and cooperation. Its primary goal is maintaining homeostasis—a dynamic state of internal stability. When your system perceives stress, threat, or overload, it resists—even if your conscious mind is trying to push through.
In this one-hour workshop, we’ll explore:
* Why forcing relaxation, posture, or performance often backfires
* How tension, pain, and fatigue are forms of communication—not failure
* The difference between control-based approaches and synergy-based approaches
* How your nervous system prioritizes protection over performance
* Simple ways to create internal conditions your body will actually respond to
Participants will gain a new framework for understanding their body—not as something to control, but as something to collaborate with. Through guided awareness and practical examples, you’ll learn how to shift from commanding your body to working with it, leading to more sustainable ease, movement, and well-being.
⸻
Outcome:
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of why your body “resists,” and practical strategies to create the kind of internal environment where change happens naturally—without force.
