Focus Point Mental Health, LLC

Focus Point Mental Health, LLC Focus Point Mental Health provides compassionate, community-based services across Virginia. We empower individuals to heal, grow, and live independently.

Medicaid accepted. Nonprofit support available for those without coverage. Healing starts here. Focus Point Mental Health is a Virginia-based, Black woman-owned mental health agency committed to empowering individuals and families to lead self-directed, stable, and fulfilling lives. Founded in 2017 by Angela Williams, a licensed mental health provider with over 20 years of experience, the business

was born from a deep understanding of systemic gaps in access to care—and a fierce desire to be part of the solution. Our agency provides community-based behavioral health services that are Medicaid-billable and person-centered, including Mental Health Skill-Building, Intensive In-Home Services, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Outpatient Therapy, and our Sponsored Residential Program. We support both children and adults across Richmond, Danville/Martinsville, and Lynchburg. But we don’t stop at billing Medicaid—we go further. After witnessing countless individuals being denied care because they made “too much” to qualify for Medicaid or too little to afford private insurance, Angela founded a nonprofit arm of the business to ensure no one falls through the cracks. Our nonprofit helps fund therapy and support services for clients who don’t meet the criteria for insurance coverage, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to care. What makes us different is our heart. We don’t just provide mental health services—we build relationships. Our staff is deeply connected to the communities we serve. Many of us have lived experiences that mirror those of our clients. This shared understanding fosters trust, which is often the first step toward healing. We’ve hosted mental health awareness events, including our annual Mental Health Fashion Show, designed to break stigma, spark conversation, and celebrate the resilience of those living with mental health conditions. We are rooted in the belief that healing isn’t only clinical—it’s cultural, communal, and personal. Despite the challenges of recruiting and retaining qualified mental health professionals—a common issue in our field—we remain committed to growing a passionate team. We’re working to offer ongoing training, mentorship, and leadership pathways for staff to grow within the organization. By pouring into our people, we strengthen the very foundation of our care. Our vision is bold: to become a statewide leader in accessible, equity-driven mental health care. We aim to open new locations, deepen partnerships with schools and hospitals, and expand our nonprofit capacity so more individuals can receive therapy, regardless of their financial or insurance status. At Focus Point, our motto is simple: If you’re not a part of the solution, you may be a part of the problem. We’ve chosen to be the solution—one life, one breakthrough, one healing moment at a time.

Sometimes, the most meaningful moments happen after the event is over. 💚

Yesterday, community members came together for Beyond Burnout: Restoring Balance & Resilience. An evening dedicated to honest conversations about burnout, compassion fatigue, resilience, and the importance of caring for ourselves while caring for others.

What made the event so special wasn't just the panel discussion or the activities. It was the openness of those in the room, the meaningful connections that were made, and the shared reminder that no one has to navigate life's challenges alone.

From guided breathing and sound healing to community resources, thoughtful discussions, and opportunities to connect, the evening offered practical tools and encouragement for anyone seeking to recharge and restore.

One reflection from an attendee beautifully captured the heart of the event. She came to support one of the panelists, Angela Williams, but left with something unexpected:

"I went for my mom… but I left with something for me."

Those simple words remind us that sometimes we show up to encourage someone else, only to discover that we needed the experience just as much ourselves.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, our panelists, vendors, community partners, volunteers, and all who helped make the evening possible. Your willingness to show up, share, and support one another made this event truly meaningful.

Here's to continuing the conversation, making self-care a priority, and building communities where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Recharge. Refocus. Renew.

The smallest everyday tasks can lead to some of the biggest victories. 💚

Doing laundry isn't just about clean clothes.

Preparing a meal isn't just about food.

Keeping a schedule isn't just about staying organized.

These everyday moments help build confidence, responsibility, problem-solving, and the skills needed to live more independently.

That's why Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) focuses on real life. Every task becomes an opportunity to learn, grow, and move one step closer to recovery.

Recovery doesn't happen all at once.

It happens one skill, one habit, and one day at a time.

💬 Which everyday task gives you the greatest sense of accomplishment when you complete it? We'd love to hear your answer in the comments.

When was the last time you took care of yourself without feeling guilty?

Today is International Self-Care Day, and it's a reminder that caring for yourself isn't selfish, it's essential.

Self-care doesn't have to be a weekend getaway or a perfectly planned day off. Sometimes it looks like getting enough rest, taking a walk, saying "no" when you need to, asking for help, or simply taking a few quiet moments to breathe.

You don't have to wait until you're overwhelmed to start taking care of yourself.

✨ Today, we encourage you to do one small thing that supports your well-being.

What's one act of self-care you'll choose today? Share it in the comments and inspire someone else to do the same. 💚
