💜 Raising Awareness & Supporting Mothers in Our Community 💜

On Thursday, June 4, the Danville Riverview Rotary Club had the privilege of welcoming Tamika Tali of Birth in Color as our special guest speaker.

Tamika delivered a powerful and informative presentation on the maternal health crisis in Danville, shedding light on the challenges many mothers face and the disparities that continue to impact outcomes. She also shared valuable insight into the role of doula services, emphasizing how advocacy, education, and support can make a meaningful difference for families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.

We are grateful to Tamika for educating and inspiring our members, and for the important work Birth in Color is doing to support and empower mothers in our community.

Together, we can help raise awareness and be part of positive change. 💜

Black Maternal Health Week is HERE — and we kicked it off right at the Color Carnival in Lynchburg! 🎉

In addition to eats, treats, and of course — line dancing with our girl Dana Williams (per usual 🤣) baby bundles went out to new and expecting parents and our color crew pulled up in full Secret Service mode to support the community 🕶️

And in honor of Black Doula Day — we celebrate and uplift the incredible doulas showing up every day for Black birthing people. Your work is sacred. Thank you for showing up today and everyday.

Special shout out to DeVonda N Chilton for always pulling the strings bts and of course our Chief in Command — Kenda Denia for driving this colorful mission forward.
