Many months of waiting. Hours of surrender. One incredible VBAC.

And then... this moment finally comes. The one you've been waiting for!

The first time your baby rests on your chest after you've worked so hard to bring them earthside is impossible to put into words. Every contraction, every breath, every ounce of strength led here.

What was the first thing you said or felt when you finally held your baby? I'd love to hear your story below.

Birth is beautifully messy.

The internet sees blood and panics. Midwives see the whole picture. They understand physiological birth, and seeing some blood is normal.

Midwives are extensively trained to recognize the difference between normal postpartum blood loss and excessive bleeding. They aren't just watching the birth. They continue to assess mom, estimating blood loss, monitoring the placenta, checking vital signs, and acting quickly if something isn't right.

Normal doesn't mean ignored. It means understood.

I'm not always "on time" when it comes to social media or "trends" but I felt this was worth sharing even if late. Yesterday was International Day of the Midwife, which brings me to one year ago yesterday that I got to witness the beauty of midwifery in action helping a mama birth her first baby.

Midwifery care is holding birth with intent and understanding for physiological birth. Allowing a safe space for mom's to feel heard, letting her know you trust her instincts in a way that brings empowerment so they too can trust their bodies capabilities. It's sitting watchfully, meeting them exactly where they are in that moment, not rushing the process but also knowing when it's time to help. Midwifery care has been around since the beginning of times and it's even more important now than ever! Mom's need to know they CAN do this and it is SAFE, history and science back this up!

Birth is not a medical event, it's physiological, and natural. Midwives come with that understanding and respect! Shout out to the midwives who were there to help me along in my home births and to all the midwives worldwide who hold the sacredness of birth even when you're tired or the world seems against you. We see you and the hard work you do, you're making a difference!

Postpartum bliss hits different when you birth in your own space where there's no rush, no noise, just instinct, connection, and trust. Physiological birth, in the comfort of your home and guided by intuition.

I fully believe in you, will keep cheering you on the whole way while also being very real in all information shared with you and holding personalized care at the forefront of your journey.

I just supported a couple in welcoming their first baby this last Wednesday and gosh was it beautiful! It always amazes me to see so much strength and resilience shine through in all that encompasses birth. I definitely shed a handful of tears at this last birth. I hold all of the births I join in my heart forever, but there are just some that stand out a little more. Forever thankful to all of the families that let me walk alongside you in your story.

Little side note, at every birth I always try to ask the parents what they think their baby's weight and length will be. I joined in on the guessing at this last birth and got it right on the money! 7lbs 4oz

Birth photography includes knowing when to take a step back to document the whole moment, like in this photo where you can see big sister who sat down at the table to eat some food, also observing her dad while supporting her laboring mother. Family centered births introduce our kids to physiological birth and allow them a safe, calm space to understand birth and see it for what it can be with the right support system.

Were your kids present at your birth, how did they respond to the process?

Forever grateful to all of the families that have trusted me and allowed me to be apart of their journey no matter if it was through doula support or by documenting it. In the birth space your comfort is always a top priority to me along with ensuring to the best of my abilities that you're being respected in your birth space, helping to keep that space feeling calm and safe for you. Physiological birth needs safety and calmness.

Reviews of your experience are a small, yet big way you can help me grow in my work but also by allowing other potential families to see what it can be like with me in their birth space.

I'm excited for the 2026 families I've got coming up ♡
